boost problems, already searched

fist off here are my few mods:

3in turbo back straight exhaust
koyo radiator
generic intake filter on oem arm
walbro 255 fuel pump
oem sidemount
it's pretty much a stock sr20det

over the weekend i installed a manual boost controller. i clicked it all the way down to 0 then guesstimated i'd try 8 clicks. then i took it out for a spin. at WOT through gears 1-3 i would spike to 10psi then it'll hold at 7 which i thought was perfect. then i went to my bro's place and let him take it out. i told him to really let on it so he opens it up. from a 1-2 shift he hammered there was a popping sound then a big woosh as if the intercooler piping came off (it's happened to me after first swapping). we check everything and it's all on tight. checked the oil and it was a little low so i put a quart in. i assumed the wastegate was still open cause thats the only other part that would let air out. but hoped the turbo wasn't blown since i only spiked to 10 (i watched the gauge the whole time). i then crawled home and it wouldn't go past 2psi and could barely go up hill at 10mph. it definitely felt like a n/a . since it was dark i couldn't really tell what kinda smoke was coming out but it seemed more white than blue. after some searching i had time to check it out today and found my brake fluid was really low from a loose cap and prolly my gas was a bit low but thats unlikely. i had to pump the gas to start it up today and the little smoke that did come out was white. i played around with the wastgate without taking it off and it still seems to work properly. all hoses are fine and oil levels are good. i still need to add brake fluid though. any idea on what it could be? thanks in advance

Sounds like a vacuum leak is causing you to run pig rich. Check all your piping, and lines to be sure you don't have a leak somewhere. If you blew a coupler/pipe off it's probable that something else was knocked loose as well. Check vacuum going to your wastegate actuator. Trust me it could be anywhere, I had a hole in my intercooler I had to weld up after a wreck lol.

t25 @10psi should not be busting stuff, and side mount is fine for the stock turbo

as an update i replaced it with a white rubber cap that goes on the bottom of chairs (like the foldable ones) and walkers lol. found it at walmart for $2, it has a 1 1/4 diameter and JUST barely fit. it's really snug all the way on and i put the clamp for good measure. since i've upped the boost a little and everything is fine. thanks all =-]

BTW blowing the wastegate hose wont kill your boost. You'll actually run full boost.

Ref: to first help post.
