I'm thinking about buying a 98 240sx SE.  I havn't had the chance to drive it yet.  What do you guys think of them.  I hear they are 155hp.  Do they have good acceleration?  How much of a difference in HP would you get if I added catback exhuast and an K&N air filter?

Do they handle well?  How do they compare to all otehr stock 240sx's?  Are they dependable?  Basically just fill me in....

Thanks guys...

155hp
160 lb.-ft.
0-60...~7.7-7.9
1/4 mile...~15.9-16.1
A good cat-back will probably net around 6-10hp at the wheels.
A good intake system will net you probably around 4-8hp at the wheels.  The K&N by itself won't improve much more than the sound level...maybe 1-3hp; get the whole intake pipe if you can.
Handling is really good and can be made excellent with some aftermarket suspension components.
All 240's from '91-'98 are basically the same as far as performance and reliability...they all have the same engine.  The only difference is the body style.  The '89-'90 240's have a different, less powerful (140hp), and slightly less reliable motor.
I would highly suggest getting one with a 5spd...it increases the overall fun factor of the car.
Just test drive one and see how you like it compared to other comparable cars.

Plus, you'll get the [email protected]$$ body style. Definitely get the five-speed!

Get it, you'll love it. Accelleration is decent, about the only thing about the 240 that you may dislike. Exhaust and intake systems will get you in good shape. As far as durability goes, you won't find many engines expected to hold up as well as the KA. Most of us are pushing 100k miles without major trouble, even under hard driving. I know of several KAs running near 200k miles. That cast iron block shouldn't give you much trouble <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
