Odometer sometimes stops rolling

The odometer in my 90 hatch sometimes stops working on the highway. I would be driving, look down and it has stopped rolling.
Next time I hop in the car and drive it, miraculously, the odometer starts working again.
This happens randomly, more so on longer trips such as driving from San Diego to LA.
Anyone else have this problem?

This is annoying because it makes record of maintenance of oil changes and other parts more "inconvenient" so to speak.

pertinent info:
1990 240sx hatch
5 spd manual
electrical/engine/drivetrain-wise_stock everything

same thing happens to mine, only it's more often than not. Speedo still works, trip meter does the same thing as the odometer. Same car, but mine's auto

yup, everything else works-speedo,tach,fuel,temp etc. just the odometer and trip meter freeze up sometimes.. ill probably take a look at the cluster apart and see if something is loose or damaged.. Was maybe hoping someone mightve had the same problem and found a fix for this or something
