car didnt pass evap

tried to get my car smogged today in CA, passed everything but the evap.
the dude was kool though and ran the smoke thru the lines and we found out it was coming from above the gas tank. couldnt see from the exact spot though. i replaced both the 3/8 lines that come off the fuel pump but there is is another line ( what that for? ) It can either be
filler neck vent tube (how do i check that?) that other line i didnt replace, or a crack in the gas tank (doubt it) anyone have any ideas?

good luck man. i had issues with the evap system in my old s14. it was cleaned out and whatnot, still didnt pass emissions. i payed $800 to get it fixed. now heres the catch with my lesson learned in '04. in WA state, you only have to pay UP TO $200 to "try" and fix the problem. i replaced my evap canister too, even tho my car only had 64k miles. so i got a waiver for tabs and went on my way. my fuel economy was better tho.

they have to redo everything. the evap test pressurizes from where you fill gas to the tank vent line going into your charcoal canister. as in filler neck, tank, and vacuum hoses off the tank. check the seal on top of the fuel pump, and the vent hoses connnecting the tank to the canister up front. if those are legit, check the filler neck for holes and shit. hopefully your gas tank isnt cracked on the top
