92 Vert Build!!!!
Picked up a vert the otherday. This will be my 6th 240sx. Pretty clean. Needs some interior work. But all around its going to be an eventful project.
The guy i picked it up from had a "mechanic" rebuild the bottom end using the EBAY REBUILD KIT. Block was decked/dipped. New pistons. New front timing cover, Maybe new oil pump. I need to check! Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu! And whatever all else the rebuild kit came with was replaced i believe. So at the least im nervous, because its rebuilt, not knowing by who, is he good, ect ect...im stoked its rebuilt if done correctly. Rumor has it when he replaced the crank from AutoZone, he didnt use the bearings the kit came with...can someone relate or even help shed some light on this? Im not even sure the crank from AutoZone even comes with bearings. What do i know lol. Even if it did whats the size difference between the AutoZone crank bearings and the EBAY rebuild kit bearings. Im not sure which were used. THIS IS SCARING ME. The reason i ask is because my buddy has a set left over but were not sure which kit it goes to. I need to know so i dont accidentally lock the motor up or spin a bearing. ILL BE LIKE RAWR FUUUUUUUUUUU! I want to pull the motor and check all his work to just have piece of mind. But if its not "necessary" if the crank spins and the micrometer checks out on clearances (Plastigauge as a second opinion) i should be okay right? Sorry for all the text guys. This seems like a headache. Any ideas? |
