Help! No start, no fuel pump prime
Hey guys, so ive been searching online for days and trying different things and still my car wont start. Here's some background:
S13 with S14 sr20det swap, car has been runnning perfect for the past year. Then one day it just had trouble starting, would turn over and almost start, sputter and then shut off. Eventually it started up and ran great, drove about 40 miles with no problem and after parking it, it never started again. It does have the ISR (isis) 255lph fuel pump, not a walbro but it doesnt have many miles on it. The Fuel pump does NOT prime when i turn the key, I do hear the EGI Pump relay in the engine bay fuse box click when i turn the key i also did the fuel pump hardwire to see if that worked and still nothing, i dont hear the relay i hardwired in the trunk click at all though. i also tried jumping the fuel pump relay in the engine bay with a piece of wire and still nothing. when i turn the key to ACC my gauges light up but when i go to try and start the car, they all go black. What would randomly just cause the car to do this after running great for so long? could the ecu have burnt out a pin the sends the ground to the fuel pump relay? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!

Give the fuel pump direct power. Bypass any relays and go straight to the pump. If the pump doesn't turn on then the pump went bad. If you've been running low fuel levels in the tank constantly you could have burned out the motor since it needs fuel surrounding it to cool itself.

got it to start, fuel pump is fine. i was able to adjust how it was hardwired and it starts up and sounds stronger than ever!
it was just the white/purple wire (that i found was supposed to be used in a writeup as the trigger) wasnt getting any power signal with the key on so i used the yellow w/ blue stripe i believe, that got a 12v signal so that triggered the relay and it started right up. thanks !

Permanent solution?

Did you ever get any further resolution as to a permanent solution, or did you maintain the hardwire setup? I don't really feel like installing a master switch in the car unless I have to or it's going to be ridiculously expensive o fix it. Thanks for the information thus far, though! After doing an obscene amount of research, I think I may have a solution to our problems. I've found a diagram that links the ignition switch to the fuel pump relay. It says it's an SR20DET wiring diagram. I'll try it and let you know if it works. -Toby |

I'm currently having the same issue. I have an s13 with a ka-t though. I'm going to see if switching the wires for the hardwire works for me as well. I just bought a new walbro so even if the old one wasn't bad it only hurts my wallet to have a new one.

i bought the painless performace fuel pump wiring kit for like $30. its wired in right above the fuel pump in the trunk and the battery is back there too so it was easier.
