I don?t know. I always thought the autos were more of a thing with the MK4?s. Guess I was mistaken.

The Maxima has been nothing more than an afterthought in the auto industry for 3 generations now. Nissan would be wise to turn it in it a low, sleek, fast EV.

the world at large has become so complacent in modern society with digital invasion and data collection for profit at the expense of privacy. as i get older, its become more and more evident to me that the level of connectivity the general person now has to the "web" is a dangerous thing. knowledge is power, and weve all seen what happens when the ignorant masses have access to it... we get cess pools like social media where the masses flock to and shit in it because they simply use the excuse of ignorance to propagate negativity and stupidity... and good lord does the world use this to its advantages!

i was having a conversation with a friend yesterday about how much i generally dislike modern cars. i simply cannot get into them. hell, i had to drive a special edition Mini Cooper GP into the warehouse here at work yesterday and it took me a few minutes just to figure out how to get the fucking thing into drive! yes, i know im getting older, BUT... ive been an avid computer user since i was 10 (i still prefer a PC to any android device period... mobile devices are too confining) and ive watched the digital world expand like a cancer into the hands of people who really shouldnt be allowed access to said digital world! but that expansion includes cars... and it was only a matter of time before the privacy we once had in our automobiles was monitored, cataloged and distributed back to the manufacturer and other sources were not aware of.

people bust my balls for maintaining and driving old cars... cars that were built in the 90s/early 2000s. but when i see articles like these, it just makes me sad at the shared mass of ignorance and hollow trust people have today in devices like phones, tablets, cars, alexas and just about any other digital device that has wireless connectivity! they all monitor, collect and distribute that cumulative data, and its so rarely ever questioned or considered by the masses. as long as some empty headed socialite can facetime with her bestie about the dick she had buried inside her last night, who cares right? we are living in the early thick of 1984... and im not being paranoid. look at whats occurred over the past (almost) 9 months in our society. manipulation at the most pathetic levels of the masses for a shift in control and ideology. the sheer acceptance of socialist Marxism behavior due to the dumbing down of the population just as long as said population is kept ignorant and numb via their digital device addiction, who cares? Cars collecting data about their owners is just another example of the invasion of privacy to collect personal information without consent, or said consent is so deeply buried, disguised or padded in legal speak within a contract that not even a lawyer could make it out without hours upon hours of dissection... and all for the purpose of making money from it by megacorporations who care nothing about the masses they affect, addict or damage.

ill stick to my 90s shit boxes...

i doubt nissan is going to go under. there are systems in place to keep megacorporations from going out of business... and it wouldnt surprise me that if they were in huge trouble, a rivaling Japanese company would most likely come thru and buy them or purchase enough controlling shares to keep Nissan alive. Nissan is too big and too profitable of a company for it to go under. would require a new management structure and such, but yeah... i doubt Nissan will die.

my guess is theyd be more likely to get bought out within the next 1-3 years by someone else rather than get liquidated. i do have to say im super impressed how they’re still around screw up after never ending screw up. mitsubishi is another miracle. maybe they’re subsidized by the japanese government, Idk.

My money is on a failing Nissan getting a buy out from the Japanese government on a scale Renault couldn't dream of matching.

honestly... i see Toyota buying out controlling shares if it happens.

though the sheer definition of the term... it would be TOTAL irony if HONDA bought controlling stakes in Nissan LOL

c8 zo6 might get na power w close to 650hp.

not sure how I think about that replacing the supercharged LT5 with similar power and likely a lot more torque, most likely less potential for tuning. a modified LT5 would be great with the C8 and the traction it gets.

You left out the juicy part.

"The next Corvette Z06 will have a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter flat-plane twin-cam V-8 that spins to 9,000 rpm"

Also, the Twin Turbo versions being in the ZR1 and likely pushing 800hp.

9,000rpm sounds gorgeous. Haven't heard of a mass produced V8 that high-revving since the E90 M3, and that's only about 8.5k. I think the GT350 too.

And the M3 has rod bearing replacement as regular maintenance at 65k miles.

No way a smaller NA engine that makes power by high revs will have more torque than a larger displacement forced induction engine. And Corvettes don't get modified much in general circulation. Sure, some, but a small percentage compared to s-chassis. Tuning potential isn't even on GM's radar.

Good call on Nissan being bought by the Chinese if anything, that's where the money and desire is. The question is if the Japanese would allow it to go through.

corvette z06 / camaro zl1 lt4s have pretty good aftermarket potential. It just isnt cheap. Id like the c8 zo7 engine to have the potential as the lt4 / lt5 but just dont see it without FI. also sad it has no manual with that type of high reving engine.

And while some certainly are modified and prepped for racing in virtually every form of racing they're allowed, there's also a sizable group that will NOT modify the cars, seeing keeping them stock as desirable. Where as a stock 240 is a big deal.

And the scale of modification is a different story as well. Some guys will put a cam in a vette and call it modified but a 240 is still 'practically stock' if it has an interior and stock engine block but has full intake and exhaust, full suspension and brakes. It's only "modified" if you do a full engine swap or cut into the body.

But to the original point, compare the s2000 F20 and the newer Volvo T5 engine. Both 240hp, one a NA 9000 rpm engine, one FI. The Volvo engine has almost 100 lb-ft more than the F20, almost 60% more torque. I can see the 5.5 NA having something like 625hp/550lb-ft vs the 650/650 of the previous gen.
