Your asking for a highly illegal favor in terms of "hooking a brotha up". The long and short is these engines are not quite legal. Do some research for yourself in terms of going to different smog shops and asking them yourself. 6 pack of something good n dark and like 200 bucks might help him/her make up their mind too.

I'm well aware that is highly illegal, but if someone who loves these cars as much as most of the people on these boards, then maybe their could be le-way... just wondering if anybody knows a place that can help me out, actually pass my car... as in it passes the actual smog portion, but they just dont bother to care about what motor. I can understand if it doesnt pass the smog test and they dont pass me, but if it passes smog, i should pass... does anyone definitely know if a stock rb would pass? or even could? thanks

there is no way to get it to pass. it wouldn't pass visual or smog. you'd have to find somebody you can pay to run another car on the dyno for you when they do smog. that's what i had to do for my sr20

it's not gonna pass. you're gonna fail visual. it won't even get to the point where you have to smog.

Well the rb was kinda a waste, overpriced... rather get an sr. I've read the sr easily passes smog?? I'm sure theres a place that will pass an sr, atleast if it passes smog standards. I know people have sr's in Pa for a fact. I just have to find out how.

nope i have an sr. you won't even make it to the smog part. you won't pass visual. i have an sr in pa. i pay the guy a little extra to pass me. they had to run a subaru on the dyno for me. throw a couple cats on there and make sure the o2 sensor is running right and you might pass smog

if you're going to swap your engine, it sounds like you need to do a lot more research than "will it pass emissions and inspection???"

i got both my car (rb25) and my girls car (sr, full stand alone) legit emissions and inspection stickers w/o any problem at all, but like most car guys....i have a "guy" who hooks it up for me

btw, to illegally pass a car in PA will get a shops emissions license revoked permenantly (that's their bread and butter money) AND fined up to $10,000 for EPA violations
