another one bites the dust. too bad, really

i can respect the craftsmanship but that shouldn't be done to a classic car
yes, a first gen f body is a classic car.

^im with busted on this one.

if it were a newer camaro, say, third generation and up, then hell yeah.

i love how the kid with an s14.5 called him a ricer...hypocrite...

he reminds me of how CTnewman (the kid here with the RB26 E30 build) is on the E30 forums, its a fucking riot!

i love his sarcasm.

however, i doubt it will get driven that much, which is a waste, and he did none of the work himself from what i gathered reading the thread.

That's right. If you're not 'parts matching', you're not l337. If you don't even have the same manufactuers parts on the car, you're not getting your money out at all.

I kinda dig it, but shit, why do that? LS1 TT'd would give the same 'feel' with half the boost, about the same cost, and much more respect.

I love that car, of course I don't really have an idea of what was ruined.
Interior on that thing is BEAUTIFUL. I don't know if I would have chosen the 2JZ though.

If anyone is interested, heres a video of the exhaust on that thing.

I'm not a fan.

Not that I don't like the car, but it's got too many time periods trying to compete for attention. Build a classic, or build something modern. Mix and match turns out FAIL.
Not that I don't like the engine, but I don't think it was the best choice here. I understand, and respect his choices to use it, but his argument against LSx engines is crap.
I really don't care for them together, nor do I care for the execution of this build. From just the short bit I read from the original thread, this guy just seems like an attention whore. Great, you did something different. Different does not mean better.
Heck, he didn't even build it. He had a shop build it and they threw their name on like 5million parts of the car. It's not even his car, he's just driving their rolling advertisement.

I admire the work that was put into it (by the shop, of course) but a 2JZ is definitely not the engine I would have chosen personally. It's cool to do shit differently at times but not with a first-gen Camaro. I'd rather keep things a bit more traditional.

The guy obviously did this because he's an attention whore. If this thing had an LSx, it wouldn't be the trillionth time I've seen it on a forum. 2jz instead of an LSx is good for only one thing in a domestic car; attention.

Took the words out of my mouth. I think cross brand engine swaps robs the car of its beauty. The 2jz is a good solid engine, I just think that it should be kept to what it was made for, toyota. As much as I like nissan, I didnt like that mustang with the rb26 either. The thought of a classic american muscle car taking off with the sound of a 6 cylinder engine is firing out of the tail pipes is somethin that IMO jus shouldnt happen. The inside is nice, but what's the point of a modern interior on a classic car? again robbing the car. And the fact that he didnt build it just makes it even worse. This is a great 67 camaro that has been raped and turned into an import clown for show. I think it is a gross tradgey, but hey to each their own

I did the paint, i dig the interior, and i'm so-so on the motor.

After watching the provided video in this thread of the exhaust shots, I felt weird hearing an inline six instead of a v8.

Oh well. Not my money so whatever.

what?

my only guess is that you for some reason think that this should bother someone as much as a 2jz in a first gen camaro. a 2jz in an s14 doesn't annoy me in any way, because s14's are only 10-13 years old at this point, and will never be considered classics anyway. they're like nissan's el camino or something.

Other than the gaudy logo all over the place, and the interior color theme, I most certainly can appreciate this camaro. granted I wouldn't take the same approach, and nor would I choose the same chassis, but I think the end product was very well assembled, clean and effective overall. Personally i like the 2jz over the ls-1 and its variants, so no complaints about that. If there was any japanese motor to be thrown in a muscle car, I could think of none better.

Was this mismatched? Depends on the purpose of the vehicle. If it was for show as the owner of the vehicle implied, then maybe it served its purpose well with the trophies he was gloating about. But yeah, something like this is bound to be controversial. Not surprised so many ppl either love it or hate it.

good job!
