SR Misfire...HELP PLEASE!!!
ive searched and searched and searched and can not find anything that helps my problem
alright so i did an s13 sr swap into an s13 hatch and from the start had a lot of problems..right off the bat theres a misfire on cylinder #1, ive done everything to troubleshoot the problem but havent had any success. Ive replaced all spark plugs, coilpacks, injectors, coilpack harness, ive gone over the wiring many times and added new grounds, ive had 3 compression tests from 3 different shops that come back good, ive checked for boost leaks, ive checked that the ECU pins are all connected, and today i opened up the ECU and checked for burns or melting or any sign of damage, i also checked the error codes on the ECU and got a 55 which is no malfunction. Nothing fixed it, and right now im confused as hell and have no clue where to go. Im thinking it could either be the ignitor chip or the CAS... do you guys have any clue what it could be, anything at this point is useful thanks -richard |

could it be the IACV or intake mani got really clogged and causes the first cylinder to misfire????
i dont see how it could clog it THAT much, but i do have a pretty rough idle and sometimes when coming to stops itll almost stall out... |

see mine looks fine, ive checked all the wiring going up to it and all thats fine...it could be the chip itself but i doubt it cause the one i have came off a buddies car and it worked fine...
i think tomorrow im going to take off my intake manifold and check for clogs....clean that out and try to clean the IACV as much as i can without having to take it off unless the shop around here has the gasket in which thatll be coming off too and cleaned thoroughly haha ill post back up how that goes |

I'd verify that you have spark before ripping everything apart. Pull the plug out and ground it to something metal and see if there's spark while someone cranks. Also what number is your ecu? If it's 62 or E5 you should be fine there.

i have tested it and i do have a good spark...
ive tested and looked at just about everything and all is good i just never suspected it to be the intake mani... if its not that and i rip it all apart and clean it then oh well...it doesnt hurt it and it gives me something to do tomorrow haha |

i ran a bottle of seafoam through my throttle body and everytime i did it it would run a little bit better, after about 4 or 5 times it runs a TON better...idk if it fixed the misfire problem, but it helped out a lot.
ill do more troubleshooting tomorrow after work and see if it fixed it..its 330am here and i need to hit the rack |
