Yes, again: Nissan rumored to be reviving 240SX, bringing it to the U.S.
12-11-2009 12:26 PM
Filed under: Coupe, Japan, Nissan, Rumormill Nissan Foria Concept - Click above for high-res image gallery Nissan's plans to revive the 240SX (Silvia in JDM parlance) has almost become a running joke, right up there with the fake moon landing and Tom Cruise's heterosexuality. But still, this old chestnut carries forth, with a new report from Insideline's editor in Japan who says the coupe's revival is due to hit the market sometime in 2011 or 2012. Details, per usual, are both scarce and obvious. The next-generation Silvia will supposedly be built atop Nissan's popular FM platform (370Z, Infiniti G, etc.), come in a 2+2 seating configuration and tip the scales around 2,800 pounds. Naturally, as the S15's successor, it will be a front-engine, rear-drive setup, and is rumored to be packing a turbocharged 1.8-liter inline-four putting out around 200 horsepower. A naturally aspirated variant will also be available to keep the cost of entry low, but the turbo'd model is obviously the pick of the litter and should deliver a 0-60 time of between six and seven seconds. IL's man in Japan points to the Nissan Foria concept (shown above) as the stylistic inspiration, but notes that the coupe would only be "loosely based" on the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show concept. Judging by Nissan's recent design endeavors, we doubt the Foria -- or as previously rumored, the Urge concept -- will be a heavy influence on this supposed Silvia revival. Although we're all for more budget-oriented FR sports cars, the popularity of the Toyota FT-86 is sure to be a factor in Nissan's decision to bring the 240SX back to life. That, coupled with the unknown demand for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe (Hyundai doesn't break out Genesis Sedan from Coupe sales in its monthly reports) makes the proposition of a new 2+2 from Nissan even more hazy. So until we hear something solid from Ghosn and Company, we'll resume our normal respiration routine. if you went on to read the article, it would say loosely based off of. which means that's not it.

DISCLAIMER: I know this is a prototype design model thing or whatever... Lay off my suggestions lol
The overall "shape" isnt too bad. A little bulky, but not too bad. Reminds me a little of an S13. But loose the goofy cadillac grill, maybe de-bulk the looks it a little, the rear needs to be a tad bit longer IMO, and for god's sake... loose the RX8 3rd doors. Please. I hope to god it doesnt have 4 doors. Please don't let it have 4 doors. They're going to want this to compete with the likes of the genesis coupe, the Miata, scion TC, and the upcomming toyobaru. I doubt they're going to use too many design keys from this concept on the production model. Look for a sportier shape, with a few more angles and sharp edges, a more agressive front fascia, and hopefully 2 doors.

It looks like an FM chassis camaro, lol. I hope they wouldnt bring back a silvia/240sx on the FM chassis, because its already a bunch of cars! It buggs me that the GT-R has basically the same skeleton as the Z... doesn't that make it almost the same car? which would make the maxima the 4-door version of the 2.... simultaneously making it the same as an altima???? ugh.... plus they all have VQ's.... damn
someone please correct me if im wrong...

From my knowledge I saw this car will come out in the USA. I hope it does. Looks so sexy...Almost as much as the S15...So sexy! But the cube proto type looks like a shit box. I would perfer to drive a civic. Seriously. COMON NISSAN. BRING THE S CHASSIS BACK. I would sell my Kouki and get this in a heart beat!

I am all for this
But it will never happen people. it would kill the sales of the new 370z which competes against cars twice the price. Nissan will never jeopardize the sales of cars they have already spent money on tooling.
