Yet another coilover thread...

Yes I've searched...

I'm looking into coilovers. Currently I run AGX/Sportlines, and I'm fairly pleased with them. I didn't expect them to do what a set of $1k-1.5k coilovers will do. My main problem is I want to go lower. I'm in the middle of a full KA-T build, so I don't really have the $$$ for this, but I know I need them. My only inexpensive option is the KTS Camber Plates that are height adjustable, but no one seems to know for sure if they'll work with the AGX/Sportline setup. So I originally looked at the Tein Basics...but they don't have upper mounts and the lower mounts aren't adjustable. I want something with those features. I'd love to have the GR6s, but I don't have the $1400-1500 for them. I'm looking mainly at the KTS coilovers and the Tein Flex. I have a friend that can get me the Flex for $1000, and the KTS are $1136... What do you guys think of these two? I'm assuming either of them will go as low as I want. My new wheels are 18x8.5 +35 and 18x9.5 +35. Probably F+25 and R+30 after spacers. Will be running 225/40 and 245/40. By the way this is for an S13. So give me some input...what do you guys think???

Thanks in advance,
Bryan

Personally, of the options u listed, I'd just keep your AGXs and wait til you have $ to get some good coilovers (or u could try the Megan racing ones).

Any way you go tho, start saving now. AGX dampers were never meant to ride as low as the sportlines, your shocks will blow pre-maturely, as they're not short stroke dampers (tho I could be wrong, are your AGXs red/orange or purple? SS' are purple). Sounds like you've been on them a while, so expect their days to be numbered.

Hope that helps a lil.

What do you consider 'good coilovers?' KTS and Flex aren't good coilovers? I've read nothing but good things about the KTS coils... BTW, I ran sportlines for a while on stock struts (came with the car), but I put the AGX's on maybe 5k miles.

Thanks!
Bryan

ok lets save up and get gr6...... thats the stupidiest fucking thing. everyone is WOW gp sports. WOW. yea, its WOW nice coilz. but hit a pot hole, drift in a curb, bust that shock. u know whats ur fucking turn around time for a rebuild? what u gonna run for 2-6 months? haha. yea. there u go.

thats why you need to get coilovers with support within US. GP sports tucked its tail got the fucka outa here back to JDM land. TEIN is here to stay. and KTS aint bad either. i think Buddy club is gonna have rebuild available in the states too, so is silk road (both unconfirmed but im assuming)

so yea....

KTS are top notch quality and go low as hell. the fact that turnaround on repairs is fuggin quick and order time (got mine in two weeks) is insanely quick compared to the JDMTYTE brands i see them as the only alternative.

plus, they rock my world.

Like I said, it's pretty much between the Flex and KTS...anyone know if one goes lower than the other, or if one rides better than the other? Ideally I'd like to find someone who has experience with both of these setups. I'm a little worried about the KTS for this reason:

So who's telling the truth...lol. Mak, I saw a couple of pics you posted, were they all the way down?? Anyone have any pics of them all the way down (only using the adjustable lower mount...not screwing up the stroke/preload)???

Bump for more input. I saw some new pics of 'Kookz' car ("Jane") on FA and he posted pics of his setup. From what I understood, he removed 2 collars from the bottom so he could get them lower. Looks awesome...anymore input on any of this??

Thanks again guys!

low as hell to me is lower than my car sits. my coilovers are by no means maxed out. keep in mind that im riding on 16's and have no body kit. i lay frame if i leave my driveway straight and its only like a 3" steep slope onto a level road.

i could go a lot lower especially in the back but i set the ride height to what i think looks best. on full soft they ride well and full hard are insane.

buy them and enjoy the great turnaround/service from SPLparts.com

i love those guys they ROCK!
