Anyone relocate their 3rd brake light? (S14)

The spoiler I'm gonna put on my car covers the 3rd brake light and I don't need to give cops another reason to try and pull me over, so I want to relocate the third brake light to the upper windshield. Just wondering if anyone else has done it (or thought about doing it) and what parts did they use to do it.

I've been looking around and I think my best bet so far would be to find a 3rd brake light from a MKIV golf. It's long and thin, so it's not too much of an eyesore. Heres a pic i stole from ebay:

Any other cars with a 3rd brake light like that?

In the past 8 months two of my friends have been pulled over and had the book thrown at them (exhaust too loud, 3rd brake light, car too low, etc etc). The chances of me getting pulled over for no 3rd brake light are slim but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I've considered getting one of these "line-of-fire" led brake light strips they make for trucks.

For trucks it's mounted there above the rear bumper. I was considering mounting mine inside the car at the top of the rear window. The neat thing about these strips is that you can hook them up as turn signals, so half the strip blinks with your signals. Pretty cool stuff. Just haven't figured out how to mount it yet. It's also $50 I don't NEED to spend right now. Just wanted to give you my idea for relocating the 3rd brake light.

3rd brake light has been mandatory on passenger cars made since the early 90's (if not earlier than that)...........where have you been?

This is how I found it. Hope you find one better suited for you. From what I have seen the small ones are 49", the larger ones are 60". I could use one about 40" long for the top of my S13 rear window. If I can't find a 40" I'll just use the 49" at the bottom of the window. That's where the stock light mounts to anyway. This is just a low profile option.

FYI, the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 requires all model year cars 1986 and newer, and all light trucks model year 1994 and newer to have a Center High Mounted Stop Lamps (CHMSL).

In a study done by the NHTSA, it was reported that CHMSL overall reduced accidents by 4.3%.

Look for a vehicle in the junk yards that have a 3rd lamp in the rear deck behind the windshield, they usually have large cowls to adapt them to the shape of the windshield, trim to fit and wire.

if i lived in a nazi state like california

id shave it / cover it

and get a random 3rd brake light from the junkyard that sits on the back deck, but i wouldn't wire it up. probably wouldn't even do that unless i were to get hassled

what spoiler are you getting that covers it?
