I just got a humming type noise coming from the rear and searched to see what the problem is and seems like its the wheel bearing that needs to be replaced since my car is over 100,000 miles already. Is it okay/safe to drive or potentially race the car because im going to the drag strip this Sunday and would be bummed if i couldn't go because of this frequent problem.

If it just started, it'll probably be fine, especially if its in the rear. Worn wheel bearings allow a little "slop" with steering/toe, so it could get interesting "at speed" if you drive on a truly worn bearing.

Bottom line, you'll be fine, but plan on replacing it.

I've been Driving on worn out FRONT Wheel Bearing For The Last 8K Miles...

If you do so the worn bearings will make scors (the bearing touching the hup without grease) and you will have to change the whole thing

Bottom line, Replace ASAP or you will need new hubs..(5x.0$ For Bearing Vs 200+$ For new hub)

sounds good, im gonna jack up the rear to see if there is any play just to make sure it is the wheel bearing. Is there a write up on how to install a rear hub? I might as well look for some 5 lug hubs such as 300zx or oem instead of ichiba. thanks for the heads up!

I just looked up wheel bearings for my S13 today.

If I bought them brand new from WestCo Nissan, it'd be like $98 per front wheel bearing.

Where did you find your's for $50 and change?

Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto

They have Timken et al bearings for around $50ish for the front. The rears are about $90ish with the hub. The bearings for the rears aren't sold separately AFAIK.

i drove around with bad bearings for like half to one whole year.
it was annoying but i finally replaced it with NSK bearings i got at FRSport. (only 60 bucks)
i checked the hub and it was fine so i just pressed my new ones in.
the humming is gone and i couldnt be happier

Also check your CV Axle boots make sure they arent torn

One of mine is busted and makes kinda a humming noise but more like ball bearings in a coffee can at low speeds

bad news today, turns out the wierd noise was my lug nuts that came off! literally snapped two studs in half and all but one lug nut held on and seroiulsy saved me. Lesson learned to double check if lug nuts are tightened every so often for those who experience a wierd noise from the rear. The good news is that i was able to slowly drive to a nearby neighborhood and managed to get 2 more bolts attached, so now its home safely.

Be careful with the front. I bought one for my S14 from RockAuto. The bearing inner diameter and outer diameter were too small for my S14. Could they have been for an S13I don't know. I ended up with having to buy a whole new front hub/bearing assembly and axle nut (replace those when taken off) from Nissan, not bad for $126 total. I wasted the $5X from RockAuto since I couldn't return it.

This Is OOD....I've bought my Hubs From FRsport.com..they are Direct bolt on on my S14....

i think my rears are shot to hell. the back jerks around the makes the front end unpredicatable. A little life affirming to drive it over 30mphs... I wonder if my s13 bearings will fit in the z32 rear hubs? anybody know?
