s14 S14 - Headlight / Turn Signal / Marker Lights Wiring

I have searched and searched on here and can't find the answer. I've went through the FSM, but I'll admit I have serious troubles reading wiring diagrams..

Long story short, the shell I bought had the headlight/front illum pigtails chopped off coming out of the main body harness. I've taken the pigtails off in a chunk from my parts car. I go to wire up the lights and I stopped.

Drivers side I have at 3 solid black wires (1 fog light, one turn signal, one corner light), 2 solid black with pink dots (one for H1, and one for low beam), and 2 red with black stripe (one H1 one low beam).

The passenger side, I've got 3 solid black (same as drivers side), 2 black with pink dots (one to H1, one to low beam), 2 red with green stripe (one to H1 one to low beam), and 2 red with blue stripe (one to H1 the other to corner light).

This has all got me completely confused. My train of thought, would just tell me that all of the solid blacks are just straight up grounds, and they can just get connected up to any of the other solid blacks. But the rest, I don't know if I can just connect them with color for color and everything will work correctly. I don't want to short anything out.

Anything black is ground. Period. Some have dots, some don't. Doesn't matter, ground it all.

Blinkers: GREEN/BLACK and GREEN/YELLOW(or yellow/green I forget)
Parking lights: 2 RED/BLUE on each side because there are two parking lights
Fog lights: If I remember correctly they are ORANGE and ORANGE/BLACK
Headlights: Right Side: High beams are RED/GREEN
Low beams are RED/BLUE and RED/GREEN
Left Side: High Beams are RED/BLACK
Low Beams are RED/YELLOW and RED/BLACK
*Every single light has a BLACK wire coming off of it for the ground

EDIT: didn't read it properly. A ground is a ground, you can connect it to the other solid blacks

multimeters are your friend

get one, you can do a simple resistance check to confirm ground leads

you can do a simple voltage check to confirm high, low, turn signal and fog leads.

simple as that.

or, you can wait for people to hand you answers on the forum. :-)

Well, I'm the first one to admit I'm bad with electrical. So, from what I'm reading, just plug it all up color for color and I'll be OK? I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, wanting everything to just be correct.

I'm more worried about the Red/Green, and Red/Blue. But from what I can tell on the wiring schematic in the FSM, the H1 and LB both share a wire (guessing it's main power wire). I'll hook it up today and see what I come up with.

On a Zenki the lowbeam is a dual filament bulb, so it will have two wires behind it. Your main concern is not use the red/blue parking feed for a headlight, or vice versa. Everything else matches up fine.

Well, I matched up the sizes and colors of the wires. This is what I have come up with now, this will fry your noodle.

When I just turn on the parking lights, the passenger side corner light comes on and the bumper lights come on. The drivers side corner light does not come on. I turn on the headlights, and all of the lights turn off. No corner lights no bumper lights.

When you are looking at the cluster, the drivers side turn signal indicator stays solid whether it is engaged or not. The bright light indicator stays on, when the headlights are turned on, and my headlights do not turn on regardless. All of the bulbs are good. I'm going to have to go back tomorrow and do some testing, ugh!

You have a blinker wire spliced into one of the four parking light wires. I did the same thing 2 weeks ago haha.

Bumper lights do not come on at all. Corner lights come on, and stay solid. When I use the turn signal, both of the corner lights flash, both left and right turn positions on the stalk.

I only have one bumper light plug. With it plugged in, the light never comes on, but when I pull the socket off of the connector, my corner lights turn off. And depending on which side it is plugged into, when that turn signal is activated, the high-beam indicator flashes with the turn signal direction.

Here are my questions, since it's been around a year since I've watched the front end of a 240. Which lights are blinkers, and which ones only stay solid on the front end of the car, the corner lights or the bumper lights.

All of the fuses in the car are good. I went through every single fuse checking them. Both 20a, and the 75a fuseable link are good under the hood. Every single fuse inside the car is good.

Does anybody know what I'm missing here? This is a 95' Base model car. Now the car before I owned it, did have a S15 front end on the car. Is it possible there is a relay fried somewhere? EVERYTHING else on the car works as it should, just not the headlights.

The corner lights stay on with parking lights, low beams and high beams.
The blinkers ONLY come on when that blinker is in use no other time do they come on.

Hmm, I could have swore all of the lights attached to the bumper were always on when the lights were turned on.

Which lights blink and which ones don't?

The only ones that blink are the lights on the bumper. Not the ones on the side of the number but the ones that are in the front. The lights beside the headlights come on and stay solid when the parking lights are on and low/high beams are on.

So the corner lights don't blink. Gotcha. My corner lights ARE blinking. All of the bumper lights should illuminate when the lights are on, and are the only ones that blink.

Now to figure out whats wrong. I'm going to have to clip everything again, and start all over. I just don't understand, color for color everything is hooked up correctly, even the size of the wires are matched (the H1 bulb uses heavier gauge wire).

I'm beginning to think I have a bad ground somewhere..

Well, I think I might have found my bad ground(s) today. Figured I'd just wire up the power and tap the negatives to a good body ground. Wow, headlights came on! I'm gonna go and re-ground my body harness at the headlights here when the rain stops! I'll be so pissed off at myself if everything works right after this. I grounded these good when I got the car home from GA. Maybe I didn't get a good ground there after all... Worse case, I'll wire up some pigtails and find a nice hidden body ground.

Yep, found that out a lil bit ago when I was looking at nighttime pictures of S14s. The side ones come on but not the fronts. I could have swore my Ruby car they did.. actually I know they did, but I don't know why and it's no big deal. But this entire time I was owned by the two grounds off the harness. Reground them and now the drivers side works perfect. Had another sprinkle, so I came inside. As soon as it stops I'll go hook up the passenger side. I don't work in the rain.

**Edit**

Fixed. The two body grounds behind the headlight buckets. Note to everyone, any problems reground these b4 you start pulling your hair out with any problems.
