SGS II is coming really soon. I think FCC approval for both sprint and att devices are done... so should be anytime... Usually that is the last steps...

Yes, the D3 will have a locked bootloader.

I think Samsung's strategy for the s2 is going to be the same as the original, meaning they're going to try and do as close to a simultaneous launch across as many carriers as possible.

I'm thinking all of the major carriers will have their own customized version as early as mid September.

so i upgraded to a droidX-2 free of charge since i was having issues with the first X. i really don't see much of a speed difference with the dual core processor...really can't tell the difference between the 2 phones performance wise. at least it didn't cost me anything :P

anyways, any recommendations for a music player other than the stock one? i miss being able to play videos and music on the same playlist like the iphone. and what's a good texting program? kinda tired of the same blue/white chat bubbles lol

Agreed. I have seen all the iterations ATT Attain and the Verizon something... They already have FCC pics of it out already.... Should be amazing with the Tegra 2. Its already been shipped to Cyogen for modding directly from Samsung. So when it launches it will have CM7 immediately ready for it. +1 For Sammy....

Dual Core phones from motorola are junk. Motoblur or whatever the wanna rebrand their POS OS, is pure sucks.... Go with something not bootloader locked like samsung. You will feel the difference.

Actually the latest S2 that cleared the FCC with the ATT bands isn't intended to be sold in the US. It's actually going to be sold in Russia with that Tegra 2.

They're still hoping to ship all US S2's with the Exynos (Arm CortexA9 based chipset).

P.S. Motoblur IS crap, I agree. But....Moto has removed that additional Blur login for all new devices. I've had the pleasure of using a DroidX2, Bionic, and Droid 3 and can say that Blur is less intrusive. They've got a long ways to go, but at least they're heading in the right direction in terms of usability.

Fasicnate is cool. I like it and feel loyal to it and don't wanna change it. But seeing g2 specs makes me wanna try it out at least. My phone is rooted with superclean 2.9 and runs fine. So not as a desperate decision more of a me being curious of a new phone.

Totally agree with you on the SGS I and I had the captivate the day it came out... Now I have moved on to a Infuse 4G.... 4.5" Super Amoled Plus with 1.6GHZ stable overclock (Linpack in 16', 2200 Quadrants).... I can't go back to a 4" screen any more. Its also thinner than the captivate and battery lasts 2 days with a 1750mh battery. Oh and 4G doesn't kill the battery and I am in the bay area, so most places I get like 5MB downloads..... SERIOUSLY not bad!!

I heard about this, but it makes 0 sense. Why would the FCC get involved with a product being sold in Russia?

Perhaps they plan to import a limited supply, or are keeping that option open.

Both would still require an FCC filing.

The ATT Attain will have the dual core Exynos ARM cortex A9 not the Tegra 2. I'm not saying there won't be an S2 for ATT. I'm saying the version that recently cleared the FCC with ATT bands and Tegra 2 will primarily be sold in Russia.

They did this same exact thing last year with the original galaxy.

I don't remember the benchmarks anandtech did a few months ago but I seem to remember that the GPU and flash performance were slightly better on the Tegra 2. This is due to the fact that Exynos is relatively new and the GPU is new for Samsung too. They may have been able to make some positive tweaks since then though.

Supply is short so they're splitting chipsets to ensure their primary markets in Korea and US get adequate amounts of Exynos.

I thought I read something somewhere saying that the Tegra 2 didn't play nice with Verizon's LTE radio and it was a factor in the S2's release date for them, as well as for the Bionic.

That's somewhat true.

For the Bionic, the Tegra2 issue isn't the only thing that made Motorola go back to the drawing board. There are a few other issues they had to address.

The S2 for Verizon is not shipping with Tegra2, it's shipping with Exynos as I've mentioned in my last few posts. All S2 variants in the US are.

Exynos has no known issues with LTE so it's not launch blocking AFAIK.

Just got a nook color!! THing is amazing!!! Screen is super awesome in my opinion for the price. Loaded CM7 on the SD so its dual booting and OC'ed to 1350mhz..... No lag god, 7" is perfect!!!

If looking for a great budget tablet, I really suggest the nook.... Was also contemplating buying the transformer, but the nooks battery life is great!

I downloaded the update without any problems, buuuuuuuuut imo i believe the Droid X2 is a piece of shit. First of all, the battery is the WORST. 2nd, theres a glitch in the standard keyboard so I have to change it to the swype keyboard. 3rd, it'll sometimes freeze and restart. 4th, it died on me today! Got to get it replaced now because its completely dead. Wont charge, turn on, etc.

Anyone using MIUI? I'm using it on my Droid X and love it! I'm not a fan of the stock launcher (iOS like), but that was easy to replace with Go Launcher

I'm really liking the complete overhaul of the menus, notifications, lockscreen and stock apps (I.e. camera).

Sure, here are some quick pics I took. Oh and there's a feature that lets you take screenshots from the phone (no need for SDK).

Here's my current lockscreen:

This is the stock launcher with custom icons. Very much like iOS, except you can add widgets. Not a fan since all my apps are laid out on the home screen (no app drawer).

I replace the launcher with Go Launcher, so I can go back to my nice and simple layout.

I use swipepad to access the apps and folders I frequently use.

There's a theme manager that lets you customize the theme quite a bit.
