KA24E no spark; hair pulling status
Hey all,
I've got a bit of a doozy of a problem with this one. I'm bringing it over here from NICO to see if any of you guys might be able to help me out because I've hit a wall. I've got an 89 hatch with the stock single slammer and I'm not getting spark. Backstory is the vehicle sat for a few months and wouldn't start. Switched out the coil, tossed starter fluid in the intake and she fired right up. Got the bad gas out of her and didn't have a single hiccup. 4 days later she did a couple quiet non-violent stalls while driving. I'd pop the clutch, she'd catch and I'd go about my way. The following day she drove fine for the better part of the day until she did another quiet stall and wouldn't start again. Troubleshooting process has involved me replacing/testing/switching out my dizzy, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, ICM and my coil. I've double/triple/quadruple checked all of my engine grounds and I have visually inspected and taken a multimeter to every single one of my fuses. So far they all check out good. Despite all of this however, plugs are recieving no spark whatsoever. I've taken out spark plugs (still connected to the wire of course) and laid it across one of the bare unpainted bolts on my strut tower and I'm not getting a thing. Odd stall; motor won't catch after. : 240SX Technical Forum There's my original thread on NICO in case anybody wants to see it.

how are you testing your dizzy exactly? did you also incorrectly stab the dizzy by any chance? how's fuses and relays and such? anything burnt or popped?

Well I shouldn't say I so much as tested the dizzy as I did the CAS (took my multimeter to it). However I did replace it with a dizzy off of another running single slammer (both mitsu dizzys). I'm pretty sure that I didn't incorrectly stab it in there because the timing isn't off and also none of the fuses are burnt or popped.

so you are getting power to the coil? And just to make sure, your car actually turns over, aka the starter tries right?

Hmm. Explain, you might be onto something I didn't check. I have tested the individual plugs and wires to see if they get spark while connected to the dizzy, yes. But none of them recieved spark; and I tested the harness that goes into the coil to see if it was getting power in which it was.
