apparently these are the more beefy version of what's on my hatch...
The "legs" are thicker, and the round bit is longer. bummer Good seller, and fast shipping!

not exactly. I'd have to shorten the round part at the end of the legs in order for it to fit into the slot
Just take a picture of what you have and compare to OP's picture. Maybe Nissan realized that the earlier model's version were not beefy enough and changed it (hence all of the people buying them because theirs broke) Again, OP didn't do anything wrong. I made the mistake of assuming all of these latches are the same.

No way! I would highly recommend these latches. They are stout and seal my sunroof perfectly. Over the years Iv had to adjust the stock latch to get any sort of seal, so I think that had to do with that. But it bolts to the sunroof just fine and two spot where it latches to the body fit, I just had to move it around again. Got my car up to 85 last night and no sounds whatsoever came from my sunroof. And you cant beat the price I got it for.
