SR20DET Chain Stretching?

So my timing chain is loose on the motor. I was told that the timing chain is stretched. Other people are telling me that its my tensioner. Im pretty sure when i did my last teardown on this motor I changed out the tensioner. But I cant really remember. lol. The cars been sitting for a while now.

I just dont know if I should just invest in another new tensioner or just get the timing chain and everything done at once. which would be a pain in the ass.

Has anyone ever experience a stretched Timing Chain on an SR?

The chain won't stretch just sitting there.
The tensioner is hydraulic.
If you believe the chain is stretched beyond the tensioner's ability. What are your options besides replacing the chain?

I've heard that, but never personally noticed/witnessed that.
If the timing chain has to come out for examination, you should probably replace it anyway. That would be the time to measure it, that and installation.

I'd check on your oil pressure since thats one of the things that keeps the tensioner from slacking.
