My s12 I'm poor but like to be low
Traded my 1989 Cressida for this s12, it has s13 180sx front suspension and brakes, a ka24de with the regular round of bolt on upgrades. Also came with an old faded Bride Low-Max bucket and some 15x8 wheels. Not a bad start all in all.
Well that pretty much covers how the car starts for me. Now on to the fun part.....my plans. I have a thing for the ratty old Japanese touge drift cars, the style is pretty much as low as you can get the car, tons of front camber with small wide wheels, so this will be my take on that style. There are a few cars here that I have found some insperation from. 13x10 -64 S13 Silvia aero I will be putting an s13 rear subframe in that I have laying around so that will help get rid of the stupid camber gain in the back. A buddy is a Fortune Auto dealer so he will be building me some custom 12k/10k coilovers setup for max low's. My wheel setup will depend on the day, I like to horde cool wheels and now that I am back in a 4x114.3 car I need to but some more, they will range from 13x9 to 15x9 with a few sets of stock wheels for drifting. Probably going to do the second exhaust cam setup and run the NA KA24DE for at least a couple years, a car this light doesnt need a bunch of power and the lower tire wear is always nice. |

Rolled my fenders, added some front camber and lowered the car. Love the way the car sits with my huge tires on it. Need to get some 195/50 and lower it a bit more but it will do for now
Quick video of today, tore up an alternator belt and a few other things. Car held up well other than that Had a killer time at the track, car held up well. Went through two lug studs, an alternator belt, four tires, large amounts of beer and rum, a full tank of fuel, a gnarly sunburn and probably 60-80 laps of the track. Know what I need to work on before I go out again, the suspension is far to soft both in spring rate and damping, the stock seat is teri-bad and I need to fix the camber at both ends of the car. Heres some pictures to keep everyone happy, I'll post up more pictures as I get them Last edited by Cody2130; 09-26-2016 at 03:49 PM.. Reason: broken picture links |

Got some Federal 595 for a really good price from a local shop so no more monster truck tires! 195/45 looked funny at the height the car was at and the suspension was far to soft so I had a 3 day weekend and decided that the car needed to be much lower and stiffer. We put s13 front lcas, coilovers, inner tie rods and brakes along with 1995 ford escort outter tie rod ends and stock s12 tension rods and brake lines. Went to 600 lb/in springs cut to length in the back with 1980 ford e150 shocks. Car drives way better than vs all the stock shit. We got the alignment pretty close up front but I will have it on a rack here in the next few days. Really need to get the rear toe and camber fixed but that comes with the old suspension design. On to the fun part. pics!

Finally got the new suspension and tires on the car. Did the standard s13 front suspension swap up front with some cheap coilovers that seem to work pretty well. For the rear I grabbed some 600lb/in springs and 1980 Ford E150 shocks. With my new 195/45/15 tires the car handles way better. Oh and I went and did a photoshoot with a buddy and he grabbed some killer pictures

I've always thought s12's were neat. They sure do stand out in the sea of 13's and 14's as well. When they're done properly its a beautiful thing.
Great start, looking forward to updates |
