Question Exhaust question...What to do?

Ok so, just got my first 240. Engine was blown, so my friend helped me rebuild one. In the process of taking the motor out of the car, the bolts on the exhaust, right before the cat were so rusted that they broke off and are stuck in the holes. The engine was re-built and started for the first time last night. Well, since my exhaust was pretty much open headers with it sounded loud as hell and not very soothing. My question is, what do you think I should do? I was thinking about just getting an ebay catback but my friend said that exhausts on the NA single cams KAs don't sound very good. But I don't have the stock exhaust on either. I could try and drill them out but thats gonna be a total b!#ch. What are your thoughts on ebay exhausts on SOHCs? Also, keep in mind, It'll be a DD but its also like a drift bucket. Im not trying to spend 500 bucks on a nice exhaust system.

Well, Im new to 240s in general. I don't know what is gonna sound like and I dont want to sound like crap, whether is from a super loud straight pipe or from a shitty sound of the car with an exhaust. The other option is to try and find an oem exhaust...but who really wants to stay stock?

Don't want shitty sound? Easy fix. 3" pipe all the way back, run a test pipe, then drop an Rb in and have fun

Srs tho:
(personal opinion) eBay 2.5" catback, stock cat instead of test pipe, then be done. Look up YouTube vids and try and figure out what you want.

believe it or not, ebay exhausts are fine. sometimes they are better than name brand ones, at less than half the price. i don`t think you can buy used cat converters from the junk yard. at least not in CA. but you can buy universal ones for 80-100 bucks, you`ll have to weld flanges though if you want to be able to unbolt it. i made my exhaust out of 2.25 inch pipe and j pipes(i don`t have an exhaust bender, plus j pipes don`t have kinks on the bends), an ebay N1 style muffler and a 22 inch 2.25 resonator. i still run a cat and it`s sounds decent. the resonator makes it sound good and not annoying.
