Broken subframe stud? Here is how I fixed mine on my s14

So about 2.5 years ago I was putting some sikky subframe bushings in my shell ( Which I had just finished the cage in), and not paying attention I broke the rear drivers side stud. The car sat like this for 2.5 years off and on searching and searching to see if anyone did the same and fixed one, everyone says just scrap the shell and buy a new one and I didn't want to do that.

So I posted a WTB looking for someone to cut the rear frame of a junk car for me and CrimsonRockett hooked me up with one ( Even trimmed it for me!)

So I figured Id document it and share incase anyone is ever in the same boat. Let me exaggerate if you do not feel completely confident in doing this do not attempt it or you will be scraping your shell.

I started out cutting the broken stud out and drilling a hole and cutting and putting a through bolt in... It was super janky and I didn't trust is.

First I cleaned all the seams where the spot welds are and hit them all with a punch.

Then drilled all the welds out

And removed the rear member that holds the studs

Old one with broken stud and new

New one in place

Here are the measurements from the Factory Service Manual. Id advise buying a nice Metric tape measure and before making any welds triple check your measurements.

Correct way to do it but you drilled to deep on the spot welds. You're not suppose to drill holes through the the metal of the chassis.
