Apexi n1 Duals scrape ground?

Hey do Apexi N1 Duals scrape like bumps and stuff on a 97 240 se?
Cuz where I live theres speedbumps before I can get to my parking space. Would it be so low that it would literally SCRAPE against the bump while i'm driving over it? Can anyone give me an idea of how low the exhaust really is?

Depends how low your car is. I'd say it has more clearance than most of the giant single canister exhausts. I would suggest making sure you have good exhaust hangers or secure them with hose clamps.

Learning to drive carefully helps the most, you can make it over almost anything if you come at the proper angles.

O.o? Everyone and their grandma have duals? Lol and I was going to pick an exhaust that everyone DIDN'T have... Is it a good exhaust though? I read some really good reviews on it, so I ended up deciding on it. Would it still be pretty low if I DIDN'T lower the car? I mean if I just kept it the way it is stock.

I second this.

N1 duals SUCK.

THEY ARE REALLY @#$#@ HEAVY!!!!!!!

The 5 bolt flange scraped even when my car was a 4x4...
The tips scraped a little due to super inclined driveways in socal...

They are really over priced to boot....

Did I mention that they are really heavy?

Get something stainless, lighter, and cheaper.

mine scraped when I was in the 4x4 fastback, but it wasnt anything un manageable. Just becareful about going airborn, I ended up getting a really nasty dent in my piping.

Yeah one big let down was that it is very heavy. I had that in mind when determining to buy one also.. Is there another exhaust on the market that is lighter and have around the same sound? I fell in love with the exhaust because it sounded so sweet. I don't want another civic buzzer.

ANYTHING is lighter.

Most anything won't give you the civic buzz due to the displacement of the KA...

And for above...

My S13 is droped like 8 inches, and I scrape anything to matter what...
The only thing to do in this case is do what Doriftoslut did and make an exhaust that hangs above the framerails...

Do you guys have any recommendations? Something that is light and durable, but sounds somewhat like the duals at the same time. I heard the clips for like the hks and other exhaust, and they both sounded like crap.

Eh.

How about the GP sports with the slip joints?
EXAs pro or something...

I personally like my 150$ megan racing (all stainless and CHEAP)...

Custom can be pretty cheap and as light and low as you want...

hey. i just installed a spec r dual exhaust on a s13.. it was tucked.. and it looks nice.. i think it is great and it is a flanged system.
the spec d is a slip joint.
i've never had any problem w/ slip joints.. but for added protection if you want, weld the 2 pieces together.

click that link for the s13 spec r exhaust installed

DO NOT listen to all of these idiots. I have had the Dual N1's for longer than I can remember and I have NEVER EVER scraped them. And yes, my car is lowered. True, I have an S13, but that shouldn't make too much of a difference compared to your S14. Don't let these fools talk you out of something you like just because they don't think it's cool or 'everyone has it.' When it comes to Zilvia, everyone is going to have something you want because it covers the entire f'n country of 240 enthusiasts. I've seen one other 240 in the Seattle area with it and that's all. Buy stuff cause you like it and don't listen to what all these people are saying. You won't scrape unless you drive like a moron or drive through construction sites!!

Aight cool. I have another question. There is both a Na and Turbo version of the n1 duals right? My car is Na so a turbo exhaust wouldn't work. Is the na version as good as an exhaust as the turbo one?

If it scrapes just get some urethane exhaust hangers or use a hose clamp around the OEM rubber hangers (around the circumference *sp?* ....to draw it up tighter)

Car mustn't be low enough =).

This still doesnt change the fact that its really really heavy.

The duals will work well for either a turbo or na, so there is only one version.

There is only one version and it is great for both applications. It will only make a slight difference on the horsepower with the NA application(as i have) and you probobly won't even notice it. It will however, feel like the engine is much healthier and breathing much easier at higher rpms. I ran this exhause with a 3" straitpipe up until about a month ago and there is definately more low-end torque now that I have the Cat on instead of the strait pipe. There will be a greater increase in power with a turbo as with most performance parts. Good luck hit me up if you have any more questions about the N1 Duals: [email protected]

The increase in it being a turbo'ed engine would be the main reason for power, not necessarily what specific exhaust you run.

Here they are on my S13 with stock height and 17's.

Just make sure your exhaust hangars are in good shape and you'll be fine. Now once you lower it I dunno how it'll be. I'm just doing sping/shock combo, I couldn't imagine it with coilover drops

Christ, 19 replies and only one person with any intellect.

It's dual, singular. N1 Dual.

Unless Apex'i is selling you guys exhausts with four or more tips.

My car is lowered 'all the way', I still have the n1 dual, but it isn't necessarily a pretty sight. The bottom of the two pipes is banged flat, the bottom of the mufflers are banged flat, the hanger on the pipe and then on the resonator are both broken off (the pipe hanger has a sheet of metal welded over the hole), the back of the canisters are sealed with some sort of boat putty, but it still works. No way I'm gonna buy a new exhaust when I can rig this one up still.

But, these are problems you will have with any bolt-on catback, I have friends with blitz nur spec, n1 single, etc and as far as I can tell the single pipe exhausts have a fair bit less clearance. The downside to the n1 dual is the weight, but other than that it sounds nice, feels good with power wise, and id say is 7/10 for quality. Most people's cars aren't ridiculously low, so just put on whatever catback you like, make sure its secure, and just be careful around speed bumps and driveways.
