just curious, when i read stuff like this. Do you realize that the car didnt snap, YOU made it snap? I mean, its obvious from what you're saying.......... that you suck as a driver. Or did, maybe you've improved. But when a car snaps, its because the owner of the whip doesnt know how to control it. |

Those are Fed's, not 595's though, they are 535's... I have those right now and I'll agree that I have cheapo tires all around (Fuzion's in the back) and the front still slips before the back... I just dont have money for new tires right now... That and I don't go out driving that much, its just work, school, and home...

So I had this S13.
Then I was driving in the canyon, my roomate hit his brakes while understeering, and I rear ended him. So I fixed it. And my brother slid it into a curb and over a median. So I fixed it again. And hit the wall at Irwindale. Since then I've had some track mishaps with my current car. And I've had someone hit my Jag. But I've fixed it. |

i was driving my dads 2000 mercury sable ls. perfect condition was driving down a dirft road...trying to show off..(in a fwd car LOL..Im a dumbshit) anyways..oversteered, and my rear tire slide off the road into a ditch, the car got pulled...slammed into the side of the dtich...tore one tire right off the wheel, bent the other wheel in to a L shape, deployed the driver side-airbag, put a nice scrape/dent into the door. had to call my dad...and tell him what happened...2 tow trucks later..we got the car out...apparently i had also dented the gas tank, exhaust and oil pan...car was totaled money went toward my new daily 1998 Dodge dakota

You said you oversteer snap out and then you say you want break away in the rear and not the fucing front..... wtf are saying are you speaking out of your ass ? What tire pressure were you running ? maybe you just suck at driving and took a shallow angle. I love how people blame their crashes because they over drive their car on the street. WTF are you doing taking a turn into your neighbor hood doing 80 mph. calling me a crack dick whore....? I think you should re-evaluate yourself. Talking about Federals being for poor people while your car looks like that ? |

your seriously arguing for fderal do they sponsor your ass
punch me next time i see you the frotn tires lost traction in a normal fucking turn. no braking they just Have SHIT for lateral g' handling. im not going to argue drifting terminology semantics with your ass. If the tires are going to break loose, I would prefer my bald ass 2 year old BFGs breaking loost due to excessive lateral G's. Not my brand new 10 day old Federal tires. the rear never lost traction in the same turn, only the federals they are horrible shitty fucking tires made in korea or god knows where ill got 140 into my neighboorhood if i want to.

Will I ever see you ? I don't see many 240 guys around unless its at the track. And why would i punch you ? Do you deserve it ?
You can go on and on about how much a tire sucks, but the fact of the matter is, you don't know what model tire you have, nor do you know the tire pressure for optimum grip. You can get the best tire there is and over inflate or under inflate and it will handle like shit. I just got done with a track event yesterday and I just reassured myself the federal 595ss are exactly what i want out of a tire for the type of driving i do, and I also realized how many other people like them as much as i do. Trust me i've gone through plenty of tires, expensive and cheap. Stick to federals if you only have 200 hp ? How about 400 ? or a combined 800 hp P.S. No I am not sponsor'd by federal. Im not a drifter so I can’t tell you whets right.
The human mind does this wonderful thing Ive learned about again recently called disassociation. so for example if your POOR and need tires for an expensive sport like motorsports a shitty cheap tire that gives you the best performance and consistent break away for the price will be what you will buy and you will convince your brain its the best thing since sliced bread because its not 200 dollars a damn tire. It’s that simple, if you buy a set of BRAND NEW (not used tire corner bullshit) BFG or Dunlop of Falken on all 4 tires and drift on them I guarantee you you will forget the federals. But ... that’s "too expensive." so compared to old used shitty tires, new cheap shitty tires are better. Driving style is just another way of disassociating with honestly. Do you drive slower in certain apex turns or ones with a high or low apex do you adjust your driving to suit your tire budget? My car was worth more than my 100 dollars for two new front tires. Its my fault though, If I had just gotten 4 shitty federal tires, all 4 wheels would have start to lose lateral handling at the same time making it much easier to control the lose of traction, rather than my olde busted ass 2 year old super worn out BFGs having more traction and the fronts sliding out of apex under hard lateral gs. anyways lets get back on topic, oh and I want you to punch me because I love men and little boys and doo doo.

well of course If I just added the two cars outputs togethr it all makes sense
Forest was NOT runing federal tires on the front at that event, I was there, he was only dusting them on the back as ice skates at least the last time I saw his car maybe hes using the R tires they sell, I highly doubt he was rolling on their off the shelf crap they push on the forums

The only tire I'd consider using again from the list you gave me is the FM901 from dunlop, but they got rid of those. I've done fm901, direzzas, st115, falken 512's, BFG Gforce sport , dunlop sp9000, falken GRB (451 ? or whatever). Doesn't include the countless yokohama AVS sports, and es100's, Bridgestone s02 and s03, re750(horrible tire), RE01's, goodyear f1, GSC, hp+ (horrible tire only good for rain driving).... new and used all around and just in the rear or front and I've come to the conclusion that Federal is the most consistent even when used. Actually yesterday I just used a pair of 235/40/17 Federal 595 SS that were half used from a previous event on horsethief, sat around for a good 1-2 months outside and i just did a quick burnout to get rid of the top layer and it was good as new. Smoked the fuck out of them and ran them between 50 to 35 psi all day. I'm not saying federals are God's Gift, nor do they offer the grip of Bridgestone S02, s03 re01 etc etc, I'm saying for the price Federals are sold at and the performance that you get with them they are probably the best bang for the buck that would outgrip the BFG Gforce Sports (only reason why i used this tire as a comparison is because I have a pair right now and replaced them with Federals right away.)
Anyways to make a longer story alittle shorter, you blaming tires for your crash when you're taking a public street at 80 mph is not only wreckless, but its also dumb because a public street is no where near as controlled as a track's surface. A streets surface can easily drop from .7 mu to .3 mu by having a gardeners truck drive by and dust the surface with a little dirt. Where as the time my company used the balcony for automotive testing we were getting .7-.8 mu throughout the day. |

A lot of 240s in this thread were destroyed by driver error, plain and simple. You know what caused my crash? Me being young and inexperienced. I made a mistake and I ended up totalling my car. My fault, no one or nothing else to blame. Steve, you lost traction in the front because you pushed the car too hard. Waaah waaah waaaah the tires suck, but you're the one who cheaped out and you're the one who pushed them too hard. |

wtf? this thread is turning into a tire bitchfest, i mean if they were shitty they wouldn't be used by guys that are pros, they help here and there but you can blame the tires, and if so you should blame yourself for buying them not blaming them. I mean what did you think that you could buy a $60 tire and have it perform the same as a tire 2 to 3 times as expensive, usually you get what you pay for. I like federals, and I like bfg, i used to work for a tire shop and Alot of cheap tires are made by big companies with just cheaper materials, Im not too sure, But I've heard that federal is one of the top choices by the people at the drift day things they have in japan, all the other guys are sponsored that why they roll other brands, Im not sure that thats true, thats just what I heard from the Federal guys the last time i went to htm.
point is if you wanna call each other out please use the pm not use the thread. esp when its based off of opinion not fact. |

Hello ,not to instigate but I just gotta say something as far as the above remarks ,just leave no need for that type of attitude IMO only(i have read the whole thread). Also I think your crash was due to understeer wich = loss of grip at front of car. And as far as whos poor and all that BS, by the looks of your car I would not be so quick to start name calling( I know all the $$$ is in the motor), Im not trying to talk smack ,just call it how I see it.

if i can ever find the pics, ill post...back when i was 15 i decided to take out my 84 300z around the neighborhood to show off because i just got it and knew how to "slide around turns" ...long story short, my superb driving skills ended up with me taking out 2 front yard fences and bushes, a couple of small trees, and a bumber off a honda. the car was completely totalled and even my wheels were just about squared off, but i was still able to drive away 3 blocks back to my house. luckily the police only made me say "sorry" to the owners of the fences. ahahahaha.

furthermore, just to show that you need to keep your mouth shut about anything not turbo related. I'm sure my, and probably a long list of others tire budget for a year is enough to buy your car. most likely with some change. |

Cheap niZmo ebay bumper.. i got it for free. that bumper wasn't worth the time and effort. fitment was the worst thing ever.. i spent 2 weeks cutting and re-fiberglassing it.. i gave up on it and let my body shop take over...they had no choice but to mold the sides (GHAY). I'm happy its gone, i sold it! after front got smashed lol the bumper wouldn't of lasted through anything unless the entire thing was re glassed, it came paper thin. local huh?... SI?

blah tires blah tires blah.
my car's been in 3 accidents, first 2 were when my mother still owned the car. First, my mom was rear-ended at a red light. not much damage, got fixed. Second accident, my mom was distracted and rear-ended someone else at a red light. This was in 95, insurance totalled the car, even though the damage was mostly cosmetic. rad support was pushed in a few inches, but frame was straight. I bought it back from the insurance company, replaced one fender, hood, bumper and was pretty much good to go. 3rd accident was in 98 or 99 I think. I was turning left into a parking lot, some old woman was pulling out and didn't look both ways, crunched my quarter panel. Her insurance paid for the damages after trying to blame me for the accident, until I told them I had a witness. no pics since they all predate the advent of digital cameras by many years.
