Acen - Trip II the Moon (Part 1) Acen - Trip II the Moon (Part 2) Acen - Trip II the Moon (Part 3) This is proto-rave music. You can hear the House, Happy Hardcore, and Jungle elements, the latter two of which would become genres in their own right. The only stuff I remember from this era are the more commercial releases (i.e. Eurodance): Black jeans and white T-shirts here I come! Also, I've noticed that I've got a thing for female Eurodance singers. |

I remember AMP on MTV. I was DJing a lot during those days, so I was always awake when they aired it late at night. I have like 3 4-hour video tapes recorded of AMP. I stopped watching them because I didnt want to ruin the quality...lol

i fucking love the old pridogy that i have, actually any of their stuff for that matter.
and amp was an awesome show. i can remember coming home late as hell on my bike as a kid and smokin a bowl watching that show before i went to bed. and technotronic was the first thing i ever heard in the whole electronic realm of music. i still remember finding a tape on the windowsill of the cafeteria of my elementry school when i was in like 2nd grade. i thought that was the coolest fucing music ever. even worse i was probably wearing something neon at the time..... god the late 80's early 90's was an odd time.

actually there was a lot of other genre's that came out of this stuff, Garage, Terror Core, etc... A lot of people don't realize Jungle/Drum N Bass came out of Hardcore breakbeat techno. They just diced the beats up Recycle and upped the tempo , first it was like 165 bpm with Jump Up and Intelligent, dub step, Then there came 2 step, Dark step, etc... the tempo went up again. I remember my boy coming back from London in 93 with these tapes of Jungle and I was like WTF. Sweet melodies flying over mad crazy beats. a Few years later Doc Scott and Goldie flipped it and a whole bunch of us in San Francisco were sold. I still love Jungle and I still write it from time to time. Use Jungle beats in a lot of the music I write as well. Roni Size is one of my favorites artists but there are so many out there I can't think of the names off the top of my head. Aphrodite and of course DJ Zinc( the original version) YouTube - Aphrodite - Ready Or Not (dubplate remix) remix of the Fugee's Ready or Not its a classic. Also look for the Jungle track that used Ghost in the Shell. There is more I will have to think about this. LOL

This is going to be an amazing thread! I used to spin a lot of hardcore back in the day (I still do, I just don't have the time like I used to when I was younger). I've got some gems still in my collection...
I'm entertaining the idea of making the switch from my techs to some CDJ's (1000's I'm thinking). Anyway I bought a bunch of MP3's recently and this one takes me back (for obvious reasons)... YouTube - everybody in the place (ripped 2 fcuk mix) |

I have 60 gigz of DnB, hard house, breakbeats, trance.
Lots of live sets. More live performances than anything. Stopped collecting a long time ago, but can't bring myself to delete them. A lot of it was downloaded during my 56k days. So they took a lot of work to get. Not many servers allowed 56kers to download. |
