Drilling 300zx rotors for 4 lug (tool?)

How has everyone been drilling out their 300zx rotors to fit their 4 lug car?
I’m doing ANOTHER 300zx brake swap on a car I bought. However, this time I’m burying it all under the stock rims using the 26mm brakes.
Autozone rotors come 5-lug, I need em 4-lug. My idea was to buy a hub from Autozone and use that as my guide (take the lugs out, put the hub over the 300zx rotor and use the lug holes as my guides). My fear though is if that’ll be a tight enough centering tool.
Other idea was to turn down pipe at work to make a real tight fit and center an old 4-lug rotor over the new 5-lug rotors.

If I end up making a tool. Figured I’d see if any of you guys want some to make your lives easier? Not even sure what I would charge to be honest.
But yeah, if anyone has better ideas, I need to hear em.

Clamp the old rotor to the new one. Wheel face to wheel face. 3-4 clamps around on the friction surface. Line up one lug hole on both and make sure they are both centered on the hub hole. Use the old 4 lug rotor as a drill guide.

Saw this. Punching just 3 holes right? If I do it that way, I’d throw the rotor a little out of balance. Or is it such little material it’s not much to worry about?
Thanks for the reply.

Been done a gazilion times.. It's so close to the center, it shouldn't do much to the balance.
Just drill, best is to user a centering drill and a drill press

+1 on drill press! great idea on using the old rotor too, uncle and i measured mine for the one and only time i did re-drill...5 lug was so worth the money and less hassle!

I understand the rotor is hubcentric (why else would I have suggested turning down a pipe so it’s same size as hub ring for rotor. Lol.) Was mainly curious if people had out of balance / vibration issues with drilling the rotors, but I guess not. Seems like everyone and their cousin is just punching the 3 holes in the rotors the more I search.
Keeping it simple works for me for now I guess. Thanks.

welp people used to drill 4lug rotors to 5lug pattern, so I can't imagine it would give you too much headache to drill 5lug rotors to 4lug pattern.
