Wonder what will be the next bandwagon car(s) after the E30?
Maybe E36/E46 (as price comes down) ? Rat-rods (already played out?) C5 Vettes maybe ? GC8 Impreza's are already done to death (2.5rs going for over 10k!). RSX's might get popular again among honda owners. older GD8 WRX's are getting cheaper. Be fun to see what ppl are tinkering a few yrs from now. personally I'm done wasting $$$ on projects cars. it gets old eventually, esp with the usual hassles of theft/police, etc. however, that prospect of a C4/C5 is always tempting. Cash for Clunkers, if it continues in the long haul, will eliminate a lot of options. |

an s13 will be totally outclassed by a properly built e30 on a track, i have no idea how they do drifting but the e30 is an excellent chasis. the motor is bulletproof they are light nimble and yes can get a bit hairy when driving on the edge if you dont know the car. ill put it this way, for drifting id build a s13 and for track days and all around handling id build an e30. yes the euro scene is full of douche bag elitests and for whatever reason they are now the new thing, but whatever if you build a good car you will stand out from all the hacked ass b.s cars.

I think the new bandwagon car might be those 1997 mirages that people turn into old school evo's. Ive seen two of them all jdm'ed out this week. Around my area people are starting to all see that the tt 300zx/na 300 are a way better value than supras.Getting super hard to find now, well at least around my area.

no first hand experience, but hear that the EP3 civic si (the last hatchback we got here) is a decent chassis sorely equipped out of the factory that can be vastly improved
might be cheap these days, but i haven't looked around |

Where did I say stock s13? And I love how you change my post. I'll put it this way you can do stock for stock or modded to modded. An e30 chasis is better suited for a road course. Don't get upset because you are a Nissan guy. Nowhere did I compare a fully built e30 to a stock s13

Personally, I thought that was a bit vague and could have been interpreted many ways. Being more specific will avoid misunderstandings. |

hey that looks cool!
but yea i have horrible taste. i think E30s are cool, E30s and E36s have been catching my eye so they may just be the new bandwagon car (i always catch on a bit late). i hear talk about the S30 becoming popular among "bandwagoners" also (already jumped on that one), but the necessary welding/metal knowledge might limit that one. SC300s are also growing in popularity, as are "low and flush" civics and integras. basically anything that is easily attainable by using cheap parts on cheap platforms and still get attention for. wait, what was this thread about? |

LOL, wow you dont see the point of this thread? its clearly to compare and contrast the 240 and e30. If the tread has a topic, it also has a point!!!!!.

I like the E30's it would be nice to get one on coil's and wheels, but i'm just afraid of the whole "euro wiring" and little electrical gremlins, my girlfriend had a 98 Jetta VR6 and that car was a NIGHTMARE. that pushes me away from the euro scene. i would LOVE a E46 M3 in Laguna blue with some I-Forged wheels and coils but then again thats big money.
I think the SC has a very strong possibility in becoming the next "fanboy/bandwagon" car seems alot of growning up S chassis guy's have got them and people want them now.

chassis is really good with the E30. change to coilovers, some thicker sway bars, better bushing and you are good to go. The only issue are the parts. they are expensive. check out BMP or Eurosport or pelican tuing for prices.

e30s(e36, z3, maybe others) have weak subframes. My e36 m3's subframe cracked. E30s that swap in a more powerful engine also beef up the subframe where as I could see a 240 with say...350hp with a stock subframe and be okay. As far as qaulity in stock build I'd say very close with the slightest edge to the s-chassi because cracks here and there. If you plan to up to power you have to support. I know that's with any car but earlier so in the hp/tq range with the e30. Also, rear shock mounts crack. There are more issues I can't recall at the moment, been out of the bmw scene for a bit. I can't compare the two in handling because both s13 and e30 I've driven were modified. All that being said, I'd love to own an e30(and drop in an SR20 :P).

I guess there's always an exception but they're pretty rock solid cars if you treat them right. Friends got a turbo e30 running about 320hp to the rear wheels @ 15lbs of boost and it's never had any problems with chassis or anything else to that matter really. I've never drifted one but from just cruising my friends down the road I can see how they feel a little front heavy at times. All around if you got the money and time for a becoming classic I would do it just because they can look absolutely gorgeous if done right. Not to mention a great track car. And as far as reving goes.. Well my foot felt pretty good on the accelerator? If that answers the confusing question? haha
