5th gear went out - sr20det

So yesterday I was driving and went to put it in fifth gear and it made a gnarly grinding sound then stopped working. I was able to not touch the clutch and go from neutral to fifth. At first when I would push in the clutch and put it in fifth the rpm's would jump around a little like it was trying to do somethin then it would go to idle. Anyone had any similar problems? Suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Jaren

Hi there I know im new to this forum but Im going to say... fix the trans yourself. Its actually pretty easy, you probably just tore 5th gear synchro a new one. LOL

Does it go into 5th gear while the car is off? if so then you just need a synchro. I have repaired 1 nissan trans and 1 toyota trans in the last month and they both ended up great! Only spent around 40 bucks to fix each one.

Any who good luck
