I have the usal occasion of a smoke. At weekends ect, been smoking it for years never done any bad only good in my eyes. BUT what the differnce if it does become legal? Your still going to get it, your still going to be able to smoke it. Its only if you get caught with the shit thats illegal. your life is too short to ramping on trying to make it legal Just egt on with yuor life and smoke it!

Honestly I don't smoke but if that's ur cup of tea Cali is just about as good as it gets in terms of decriminalization and the medical system. Schwarzenegger signed in a law that decriminalizes anything up to an ounce as a misdemeanor and not a felony class 1 possession, I dunno if it's still in effect though, anyone? |

I haven't read this whole thread, but any rational person would support the decriminalization of cannabis if they took a few minutes to weigh the pros and cons. I think that full legalization might not be the best route to follow though. If coporate interests such as big tobacco end up controlling the growing and distribution of cannabis the quality will undoubtably go way down and chemicals used as preservatives and insecticides will undoubtably be introduced. The system that is in place in california which allows for small, well controlled productions of the plant and a relatively low-key distribution system is the best for the consumer. Decrimilization rather than full legalization would allow a system like this to stay in place without losing the quality of the product that currently exists. Hopefully. |

^^ to add on to what u said about the tobacco company being invested there is also a parcel of land up here that is owned by Philip Morris or RJ Reynolds can't remember which but either way one of the big tobacco companies bought up thousands of acres of nor cal real estate just waiting for it to get legalized in either this state or all the states

Decriminalize it at least. I hate that you could lose a potential job because of a drug test that's positive of marijuana.

My aunt was on the verge of dying from alcohol abuse. Why the fuck is alcohol legal? Anyways, you know what helped her get through all her treatments, what helped her with the pain and loss of hunger? Yupppp, marijuana. The world is fucked up man.

Colorado and Washington's tourism is going to go through the roof. It's going to be like Amsterdam was when I was in HS.

Does the law (or whatever) that was passed say anything about how it can be sold, grown, or anything like that? Just wondering if it's legal to have but illegal to buy.
EDIT: Just read more about it. Sounds like a good plan for CO. I hope it does well and more states adopt this policy.

Yea, the coffee shops in Amsterdam are predominately filled with tourists. Most of the locals walk into a convenient store, buy some hash (even seeds!) and take it home or smoke in a bar where it's allowed. I only know this because I recently came from there. I didn't partake in any activities, but I was around some people that did. If the U.S. can follow a model similar to Amsterdam, I'm all for it. However that will be difficult because corporations will want a piece of this market (diluting quality) and the sheer size of the US (population/country) compared to Amsterdam would make controlling the substance a challenge.

massive step in the right direction, should be seeing more states repealing prohibition every election year. pretty exciting stuff. I think it's going to become a major national issue when the DEA starts blowing their budget busting everyone in Colorado and Washington instead of focusing on the Mexican border. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Disclaimer: I skimmed through this thread.
No one really here in CO is talking about hemp and stuff. Most you hear are people who are mad and saying "it will cause more motorway accidents" "increase crime and gangs" "ruin the youth of colorado". I stand by that those are statements of ignorance and old ways of thinking. What I am looking forward to is the open research on what It does to the brain. For me PERSONALLY: about a year ago it stimulated depersonalization in me and fucked me up pretty bad. I still have the urge to smoke, but I cant mentally handle going through that whole ordeal again. It literally feels like I lost part of myself. I used to be heavy into smoking for recreation...Id veg out to some "Blue Mountain State" while sipping on some vanilla ensure (I Love that shit). That was my ritual. Anyways, as I said. hemp could open up a lot of profit and resources...But no one is even talking about it....

We should just legalize it so we can stop spending tax dollars putting people in jail for marijuana related crimes, and on top of that, we'll make money on the taxation of it.

the law is washington is shi*ty. its just a way for them to say "hey we tried but it didnt work out." plus the feds are sure to step in here shortly and override both washington and colorado. so really all this was is a huge slap in anybodys face that is for ending this stupid drug war, a war between the government and the people.

I was fortunate enough to listen to this man speak at a local NORML meeting. He had many great things to say on what to expect based on changing tides and past experiences..

Well here we are, now what?
Hopefully with the rise of medical and recreational use, we'll see a decline in hard drug related over dosage in this area.

Bump.
More and More states are getting on board. I am curious to see what Sessions will do. I am hoping congress passes a bill to make it legal and focuses all that police time and effort on real drugs like meth/heroin/opioids. http://www.newsleader.com/story/news...ide/308363002/
