the faster a tire spins, the hotter it gets and the more smoke you make. The harder the tire(PSI), the easier it is to spin. on the downside, a hot tire is slicker. So even though you are spinning it alot faster, you arent gaining a ton of speed. And a smoking tire will ware down faster. I had steves tires smoking when i was pulling in at the end of the day, and i had 32 PSI or some shit in em. They were 15's and i was in boost the entire time on that CA, so they where spinning, not PSI'ing. |

fuck that.
lets pull the tranny. then do the turbo, then put new tranny on. fuck pulling a motor, ther are all kinds of powersteering and lines and hoses that need to come off to do that. tranny and turbo are a bunch of bolts and thats it. |

^Steve, how many engines have you tried to put in or take out with the tranny on?
trying to not hang up on shit, get em past the brake lines without crushing them......... Steve, this is one of those things you just need to listen on and stop being so retarded. one power steering line doesn not justfy pulling an entire engine out. 5 minutes of bench pressing a tranny on is WAY easier than 45 plus minutes of frustrating engine putting in, trying to get the angle correct, yadda yadda, unhooking harnesses, water hoses............. im not gonna waste my time explaining. Please just listen. thanks for the heads up Neiko. |

I agree with castro, just pull the tranny steve.
PS castro, the way you described how hard steves car was to drive, you drove it pretty well lol. Steve take notes from him! |

its not that im being retarded castro, its just the fact that me, you, chris, and marc saw that nice oil splash on the pass side that we couldnt determin were the fuck it came from...last thing i want is to get the tranny swap done, turbo done, power steering done, go to the track, and blow the motor this time because of a line i couldnt see prior... if anything you can bench press that sucker...ill take apart the SR tranny yeah...i know...i know...see..the transmission/turbo/steering line blew when he was driving it with the smaller rims in the rear at the end of the day b4 i was able to try it...so yeah...maybe i might do better next time with the smaller 15's in the rear...

i meant snagging lines taking and engine in and out, especially with a tranny. any "leak" we could find with the engine out, we can find with it in. You will be able to get the car to step out on the 15's, or 16's (like i stated the event before). Remember, you really arent gonna be drifting in the next couple events. It takes a few to get it. Its gonna step out easier, but then you need to control it. now that you will be getting it to step out, get ready for spinout central, lol. But donuts should get alot better faster now. |

He was barely spinning 17's, and they dont stay spinning.
They are just to big for that engine. Also, i think that the tires were to sticky. And not stretched either, so they kept grabbing. i think there was to much over thinking with Steve getting on the track. Just throw some shit tires on and get to doing donuts. Everyone was trying to tweak setups and tire pressures and all kinds of stupid 2 cents. just go do donuts yaknow.......... |

Its not the tranny.
His clutch plate died. The entire one side is pure metal the springs where loose. hairline cracks in the pressure plate heat discoloration on the clutch and plate. And for some reason the part that holds the springs in was in contact with the flywheel bolts and wore a grove into the bolts. So the plate could never make a snug contact and it let to it burning up the backside since it never could fully disengage from the pressureplate. So we are thinking that it must be the wrong flywheel on the engine. Prolly got shipped like that. cause the pressure plate says CA on it in paint marker. and the clutch says nissan, and has a number on it. So we need to investigate more. |
