Well, we had our first autox of the season this weekend. I wasn't too pleased with my performance. I decided to remain in DSP this year, and I'll probably stay there for the year. Unfortunately, I haven't had an alignment in ages, also, i discovered that i had two broken front sway bar brackets so it wasn't even functioning. So the car ended up driving like SH1T!! Anyways, we also had a few new DSP competitiors as well, a new Mini S on slicks, my roommate's SER on new slicks, and a faaast 2.5RS with the new Avon Tech R's. So I ended up 4th in DSP despite my horrible day (out of 9 cars I think), and 31st Pax (out of 135). Anyways, next autox, i promise ill be prepared. I need to get an alignment (suggestions??) and finish my rear bushings (still have toe arms, rear hubs, and lower rear control arms), and ill probably raise the car up a little. i had a tough time over the transitions. anyways, here are some pics...

you can see the lip and skirts have fresh paint. the chassis needs it too, but instead, i bought another base chassis that was an abandoned project car. im gonna compeletly restore it and swap everthing over to the new chassis when its complete (with fresh MATCHING paint!

yah, i didnt adjust the plates... my friend pointed that out to me earlier today. that could have been part of my "lack of front end grip." they are still on full outboard, so i have no idea how much that is, but its close to 0. when i push them all the way inboard, its close to 2.5-3.0.

no, the fort is the name of our old house. we had 2 S13's (coupe and fastback), an SE-R, and a Mirage, with a huge garage and lots of modified cars coming in and out and somehow we got the "Fort" as a nick name for the house!

Whiteline bars front and rear...

i would go for -3.0 degrees in front, -1.5 in rear.

Do all your other suspension mods now, than get the alignment. If its more race than street -3.+ or more, probably no more than -4. front. Rear... I am not sure about... seems like you want as little as possible to get the traction down, and the nissan rear end has plenty of active camber in the rear so I would defintely stay below -2. probably as suggested -1-1.5. Uh.. toe? Probably make it all zero no need for it when you can dial in your cars handling bias with other bits, and toe is really hard on tires. To be honest I havent gotten a real alignment yet... just tape measured.

The house sounds cool, I just moved out of a house where we had 4 S13's with swaps that I had done, 2 hachis with swaps, my GSR, and a type R. Plus a bunch of others coming and going, subaru, more nissans, bmw, two diesel tow vehicles for the trailer queens, even a scion xB! I think the neighbors thought we were a chop shop. One time one of them came over and asked me if we "dress up" cars here or something, I didnt know how to respond to him. Anyway there were 4 of us living there and we each had 2-3 cars, so it was pretty crazy had a big shop in back to work on everything, house was ghetto though.

I'm jealous our season wont start till at least march. Sigh its ok not really in a hurry to get my ass handed to me anymore, seems like if I drive other peoples cars I win the class, but drive my home built SM car and I get owned , guess its back to the drawing board.

yah, next time ill try and run more camber in the front for sure. i think that when i finish the bushings in the rear, ill set the alignment, and go for it...

and i dont have pics of the broken part. but you know what the front sway bar bracket is that attatches it to the chassis?? well, imagine that, in two pieces, haha!

I wouldn't run more than -2.5 front camber. I've had very good results with that. Rear camber is no more than -1. I run slightly toe out in front and zero in the rear. This is all with whiteline bars set to middle point in front and full soft in rear. My GC springs are 425 front and 325 rear with specailly valved koni yellows.

jeezus man you sorta went in the exact opposite of some of the yahoos wiht their camber issues.

the DT05R's from the big group buy last winter. 16x7.5 +22, 16x8.5 +38; 225/50/16, 245/45/16. i love em, but ive got cooler wheels on the way! they'll be street wheels though. they start with Nismo, and end with LM-2.

I got cool wheels on the way too: Advan SA3R 16x7.5 +32 16x8 +35 iirc...

But your wheels look HUGE. I was under the impression you were running a 245+ setup all around.
I was running the same tire setup on my old SSRs and never did it look that wide and mean... must be the wider rims.

your dt05Rs are 8.5 with a 37mm offset out back, not 38. Just figured id let you know, unless they changed (i got mine from the last group buy). I run 225/45 - 245/45 yokohama avs es100's for street (ran 2 autoXs on em, and even won my class once). But now im runnin azenis on little wheels.

My offsets were 16x7 +25 16x8 +26 on the SSRs... They sticked out pretty well.

I wanted to fit 245s all around... But I haven't decided yet.

was the "yahoo" comment directed at me? my setup is just what I have found to get the most traction with the least amount of race tire wear.
As far as street tire wear, I havent cared about that since I raced on them in STS

245s fit in the front on 16x8s with a 25mm offset with no problem. I do run a 5mm spacer for caliper clearance though.

That is VERY good to know... I should be able to clear it with a 5mm caliper on a 16x7.5 +32mm wheel...

Yeah I should of done this and run 245's. I have 225's on 16x8 +35 and it rides less than a pinky width between the tire and strut.

I was actually at that autocross. Myself and one of my Subaru friends were there from like 1:00-5:30 or so. That sucks to hear about your swaybar. The guy in that 2.5 RS was a really sick driver...did he end up winning?

On a side note, I just tried test fitting my 245/40R17 wheels (17x9+35) on the front... it barely rubs the suspension... 5 mm will clear it, more than enough...
