Electrical/Starting Issue
Alright guys here a overview.
Bought the s14 a few months ago from Atlanta it appears the car was a swapped car but its back to a KA24DE. Recently the car has been having issues it would always start and run fine but for the past week or so the interior lights, dash, ac turn signals etc didn't work at start up but after driving a few minutes they would work. I didn't have a chance to look into it after work with just having a new born. Yesterday headed home everything worked on initial start up had no problem got about 5 miles down the interstate lost of power, bogging engine etc like a loss of fuel problem but at this point i'm assuming it was the charging system(alternator) So I got to fiddle around with it a little today took the alternator off got it tested its fine according to the parts store. Now enough with small talk heres whats up: I changed the red terminal block on the Positive of the battery to ring terminals it started right up ran fine then I turned it off and now it won't start just like before. The plug into the alternator is cut and now just has female connectors(from previous owner) P.S if you can tell me what those wires are and where they need to run I would appreciate it IN the fuse box is where it gets interested they removed the whole right fuse block(if your standed in the front) They added what is normally used for stereo amps a fuse that runs 3 White/Red 4 gauge-ish wires into it what I am assuming One goes to the Battery, One goes to starter and One goes to alternator(is this assuming correctly?) one last note it makes a Starter like noise when trying to start, but it shouldn't be the starter since it starts no problem when it even tries. Thanks for any help! |

Pictures of the wiring would help. I can't assist without understanding how your wiring is routed. Are you saying the heavy starter cable, which normally is connected to the battery, has been replaced with a small 4 gauge wire running into, and connecting to the fusebox with the dual Red/White wires?
The stock setup consists of: A dual 8 gauge Red/White from the battery positive terminal to the fusebox. A single 2 gauge Red/Black from the battery positive terminal to the starter. A single 4 gauge White from the alternator to the fusebox. (Wire gauge sizes are estimates) Can you clarify on your starting issue? Is the starter engaging and the engine cranking (turning over) but it won't fire? Is the starter just clicking? |

Exactly what I'm saying I believe the single coming off the terminal is running to the stereo amp which is running the ignition(75amp breaker I believe) and the other two are tied together.
When starting it does not try to turn over starter just cranks but when I jump the car it'll start but my battery reads 12.25+ |
