miata battery wont fit?

Hey guys/gals

I bought a miata battery since I put in a FMIC and it will not fit. I have seen several people do it and they all seem to fit no problem. Am I missing something here, it would require a lot of modding to make it even come close to fitting. Its a 51-R battery by the way. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I found out from another forum that it was 2inches longer than it should be, meaning that ya it is a civic battery. It should be a 57R if I am not mistaken, right?

the miata batter from O'reillys just has part number "MIATA". Not sure about other auto parts stores.

Yeah, my miata batt fits no problem sitting sideways in the battery tray.

I still need to get a tiedown for it, though.

I went through this problem two weeks ago, someone on here told me to get the kragen 51r battery, and it didn't fit, and batteries are already expensive so i returned the 51r and called up braille auto and bought one of their no weight batteries. I highly recommend it. its worth the extra dough http://www.brailleauto.com/productca...17&idproduct=7
