KA a/c help

FYI: 92 240sx fastback/ stock KA24DE
since i got the car the a/c hasn't worked. so today i figured i would try to recharge it. i went and got a retro fit kit. as soon as i hooked up the gauge, it was in the red warning area. so i let out the pressure and recharged it.

it would only recharge a little at the time. so i put two cans in it and still no cold are. the a/c button light is on, the car idles up when i cut the a/c on, but still no cold are. prolly something else that is more expensive.

could someone please shed some light on this subject. i searched and can't really find nothing, so i come up here hoping to find answers......

thanks in advance,
jason

When you charged the A/C did you have your engine running and the A/C on full Blast? I didn't read the directions the 1st time i charged my A/C and tried it with the engine off. The gauge read the High pressure (as it wasn't circulating). WOrks fine now If that doesn't work you have to start replacing parts/looking for leaks.

yup +1 for expansion valve. Located behind the glove box in the breather case. you need to undo the 2 a/c lines on the firewall side 1st and the box comes out. The Valve wrapped in some gummy tape stuff. I just did mine too in my Nissan 240. My Volvo 240 only needed a recharge .

Replace it. It's like $35? I think. Then PM me for a step by step. I just did mine 3 days ago so it's still fresh in my mind.
*****You will have to purge your system before you undo the lines and completely refill it with R134 after*****

I did my A/C Dryer while I had my lines off. Another Cheap part. The dryer is super easy to replace though.

check wiring all the way back behind the button. And check the compressor to be working and wiring.

hmmmm. might just be a coincidence. May be a bad bulb in the button and a bad compressor or wiring into the compressor. Check the connector that goes into the compressor with a volt meter with the button pressed and with it off.

I believe so...My 91 Volvo 240 had to be retro-fitted for the r134. Some small shops still have R12 though, gotta know someone though .
