s14 sr full restoration project

Hi folks,

I've been a 240 nut since I got my first one in 2003. In 05, I bought a kind of beat up s14 zenki with an s13 sr and after a minor accident, rebuilt it and drove it up to about 300whp with some bolt ons. Being a dumb teenager, the white smoke on throttle I started getting I presumed to be a falling water pump. Replaced the pump, a couple hard pulls, and boom. Punched a hole right in cylinder 3. Also chewed the camshaft mounts for reasons I still don't understand.

Seven years later, the car has sat, fluids drained and covered, baking in Arizona heat, but I promised myself I'd restore the old girl. Two days ago, it finished it's 2000 mile journey from Arizona to seattle and is safe in my garage. I've got a huge project ahead of me. I need to replace every piece of rubber in the car, build the bottom end, get a new head and build that, upgrade the brakes, do a proper cage, this is a major build and then some. I'm expecting about $15,000 to get it road worthy. In Arizona I didn't have to worry about emissions, but here in seattle, I do. Thank god, it's a 95 obd-1. If I had any sense in me I'd just start fresh, but this car is, to me, like your dad's old 442, something from my childhood that I am going to fix.

So this will be my compiled thread for this likely multi-year build. First on my list is to tear out the motor and start saving for a 2.35 stroker kit, and I need to find a solid s13 head. Any advice you guys have for this build, is more than welcome

Pics of the sad old beast to follow.
