5th gear - 3000rpm @ 60mph..??

Running a S1 rb25.. when i'm cruising at 100km/h (60mph) the rpms sit around 3k. I don't remember my sr running that high at that speed.. or am I trippin? Stock 240sx diff

Better yet whats your guys' rev range in 5th gear like?

I feel like my 5th is 3k at 70mph but I don't remember. SR, but I'm pretty sure it's a KA trans with SR bellhousing. Depending on which trans you have will change the gear ratio.

my sr with an sr trans a stock 240 diff(its a 2way, I don't think it matters though, ring is the same) is like 3k rpm @ 110-120km's. which as around 70mph at 3k almost 75mph if a little over

I was crusing with 600hp cars at 160km/h and it's not fun crusing at 6k rpm to keep up with those 6 speed Supra

Maybe I'm just an old head, but you build a car for its major use or purpose.
Then make changes as its use changes.

Its like some of the threads lately are like... look at my pretty lunch. Should I try wasabi on it? I heard wasabi in your eyes burns, haven't tried that maybe tomorrow. What do you guys think?

How many regular miles you got on it? None, it takes premium!

As much as I want to agree with you the only this I can make sense of was your first 2 sentences. The car is definitely a street car and getting a reliable 6sp mated to a rb25 isn't all that enjoyable. Was just curious as to how other people's gear ratios react to their speed. Like I said 3k at 100km is a little high in my book. I'd like to see it around 2400, maybe 2500. Could anyone recommend a doff with a higher ratio to give me that extra bit of top speed rather than what I'm using now, seems to kill cars on the accel part of it. But she screams when I'm trying to do a 80mph mountain run with some buddies

its a lot better than an N/A mr2, let me tell you. 3500 rpm to do like 75 mph is pretty shitty feeling.

Swap in a J30 differential, it's a VERY nice difference and probably the best bang for your buck period after you're turbo. They're all VLSD's and I'm pretty sure all of them match our flanges. The axles are thicker and considered an upgrade, so grab those while you're there..
If you wanted WAY lower rpms the Q45 has 3.54/3.55 or 3.69 gearings depending which year you grab from.

All of these are a bolt in affair and will solve your issue.
The only thing I didn't like and want to remedy is speedometer error/inaccuracy.
