S13 / S14 under body differences
Hi,
So my S14 has some rust on the floor pan and the very underside of the rockers. I want to find a shell to cut up but finding a clean s14 shell is proving difficult. Would I be able to use an S13 shell? Could I make the rockers work? They would be behind a side skirt and on the very bottom so not totally visible. Thanks |

don't cut up a clean shell to fix your rusty one. Just take it to a body shop and have the rust fixed. You live in MI, so it's just going to come back one day. Play the hand you've been dealt, lol.

Water came up from the bottom. Since it was under the sound deadening, the carpet was never wet. Only noticed when I was under the car one day and started poking at it.
Here's where the factory hole is. There's only a silver stick on thing sealing it up. |

so i took back the carpet and peeled back the sound material and i saw the metal silver seal behind the seat mount, no rust there. i further peeled back the deadening and found an actual hole only sealed by the sound deadening (close to the transmission tunnel). this is where i got some surface ( i hope) rust started i dont see the same hole in your pics. thanks for pointing out this issue would of never found it until too late and a big rust job

Yeah when I get a car now first thing I do is rip out the carpet, degreaser and wash all that floor board... gunk... out. Scrub it really good so its just the pseudo sticky sound deadener left in there. Fix any rust etc...
And then paint it with some good ol' rustoleum oil based paint. The paint sort of eats up any leftover oil residues and sort of soaks into the sound deadener, its pretty slick. And it keeps water off and out of the sound deadener and seals up any leftover metal exposed. Friend gave me the idea, we did his car first and then I was like omg im doing that from now on |
