All right...first off, at www.nissan-240sx.com the webmaster is going to try to put a skyline engine in his 240. I had no clue this was possible. It got me thinking, and I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be possible, with enough modification, to put an mitsubishi lancer evolution engine in a 240...

I've heard of people putting the RB26DETT (Skyline engine) in the 240. And with the right amount of money, anything is possible. But my question to you is 'why would you want to put a Lancer engine in the 240?' The RB26DETT is rated at the same output and probably has more potential. Besides, I think the Lancer motor would require the Lancer tranny which is made for 4WD...240's are RWD. Most Skylines are 4WD, too; but there's a RWD Skyline also, which is probably the tranny you'd use with a RB26DETT swap. I'm by no means an expert on this so continue to ask around. But again I ask 'Why?'

Dunno 'bout the mitsu engine, but look at http://www.unstable-hybrids.com for some wild 240sx conversions. There was a mention somewhere in there of dropping in an RB26DETT engine!

I was just thinking a 270 hp evo engine would be a nice addition to my car...0-60 in 4.5 seconds isn't half bad. There would probably be a lot of work in handling the torque though. That is a good point about the 4wd though...hadnt though of that =P

the mitsu 2L engines are rather shitty. same base engine as the neon, and it goes through a head gasket every 10000 k

What mitsu engine are you talking about. He is talking of the engine from an Evo which is the same engine thats in a turbo eclipse. It is a great engine but inpractical for a 240sx when we have the sr20det which would fit right is and has just as much potential. I think the mitsu engine is called 4g(?)

Stick with the CA, SE, KA, and RB engines. Maybe the VG, but it will cost more to fabricate all the parts for. Maybe we can fit the new Z's engine in our cars. It is based of the 240 platform IMHO anyways.

Evo engines are mounted dif then our RWD cars. So they are setup for FWD/AWD, not gonna work.
