Bad alternator?

I recently installed an sr20det, I have a new odyssey p 680 battery. The needles on the gauges jump like crazy when I shift, car has rough and high idle, when I turn on the accessory (headlights, etc.) Everything flickers and car dies a couple seconds later when I'm not driving. Is this a bad/weak alternator issue?

Sounds like you might have a grounding issue as well. id check all of your ground and clean all your terminals and battery posts.

That battery isn't strong enough from my experience...I upgraded to miata battery and it helped. You really need to get a full size battery and move it to the trunk. Also get a multimeter crank the car and see if you are staying above 12 volts when you turn on the lights if it drops then alternator isn't charging. If your dash lights up brake and battery then it could also be a good idication it's the alternator.
If it's a ground I can't help you...if you are running an atmospheric bov on a stock sr then that could explain your dying and idling funny issue
