I found downpipes for sale on enjuku racing, they were blitz and greddy. I'm swapping my 95 ka to a blacktop s14 in a few weeks, and I just want to know:
if I HAVE TO buy a down pipe,
or is the stock down pipe sufficient??

can they be custom made easily??

The SR20DET should come with a small outlet pipe coming directly off the turbo. The downpipe is what connects this to your exhaust. On the stock KA24, this area is occupied by a "2 into 1" section of the stock header. This will not bolt up to the turbo outlet pipe on the SR20. So, yes, a downpipe is a must. They're really not that hard to make, either. You can find pictures of them at http://www.srswap.com , and if you think you can make one, go ahead. You'll need a welder, drill press, and angle grinder, though.

The reason why people usually do the DP why they do the SR is because it is one of those mods that you will need to do and might get it out of the way while the motor is out.
It's basically one of those "it's easier since the motor is out" kinda swaps.

1.It's more of a easy, high gain mod
2.You have to put the motor in before you can put the dp on
3.The stock dp is ok but when you put the 3in on the difference is pretty big
I've got the Greddy and I love it. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
