Im not sure if Im going to the one in West Virginia, but when it comes to Charlotte I am for sure! I hope I can go to both, but it looks doubtful.

You are killing me! A drifting contest won't be rice, but racing will be if it is done with Hondas?
Do you know anything about the East Coast Honda Challenge? It is club racing with various forms of Hondas. Why Hondas? B/c there is a significant number of Honda roadracers in the region. Why not Nissan? B/c there are about 10 Nissan racers in the same region - not enough for a class by a long shot! These guys aren't local kids who work in a movie theatre with APC coilovers and bling bling wheels - they are all licensed race drivers with well prepared cars.
I know a few of the guys competing in the ECHC - and believe me, they will probably be the only thing that ISN'T rice at HyperFest.
On the flip side, it offers the chance for some of you to take your car on a parade lap or two of the track which might be a lot of fun. I don't know how many "drifters" have entered, but that might be entertaining. Plus, there IS a bikini contest. Otherwise, check out the track's website and head down some weekend when they are doing SCCA or MARRS events.

-who isn't going to Hyperfest b/c there will be no need for crew, but will be going to SP the week before for the HPDE.

No, i didn't call racing hondas rice... I just wondered if it's gonna be ONLY hondas, because i was thinking of racing too. That was my concern. As for drifting i want to see what it really looks like. Anyways, the only thing i was mentioning by rice was the show contest that included 4 categories for civics.
I guess SP is summit point, but what's HPDE??

Sorry to be a bit hostile <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':blush:'> I just hear so much bashing of Hondas that I think a lot of people around here fail to realize that if you go to an open track event there will be about 20 Hondas for every Nissan (and most are driven much better too). Ditto many club racing events. Granted, the ricer to racer ratio may be 200:1... but it still means there's a lot more Honda racers!
Yes, the racing will be only Hondas (it is part of an on-going race series in the mid-Atlantic). It is classed and spec'ed out to make for good competition. In any event, 1) you can't race w/ the Hondas; 2) I have a feeling you are not competition licensed by an appropriate sanctioning body; and 3) I have a feeling your car lacks the necessary safety features to race (full cage, fire suppression system, no air-bags, kill switch, etc.).
The drifting is a ?? for me too. I haven't heard if anyone is signed up yet (not that I haven't heard no one is... just haven't heard). No idea about the car show. It's probably b/c in show land, people like the have a shot at a trophy and since 50% of all cars would be Civic and 10% of all trophys could go to Civics, it only seems fair.
SP = Summit Point
HPDE = High Performance Driving Education event (see the thread so few have paid attention to in the meets section under "track day"). uuninja and I will be in attendance.

Nice... once we get you out on a road course in an hpde... it all changes. Matt (uu) can verify this. Suddenly, nothing else about the car matters except driving it like that again and as often as possible.
If you are going, you might want to register soon though. I know they already have many entries and novice is always the first to sell out.
