Oh my good lord. Thanks for the link. Civics huh? I can sense a lot of RWD hatred down there.

Wtf!

its not that there is a rwd hatred goin on there. its just that there are fewer selections of car models there. i highly doubt youll find a 240 there casue it wasnt offered in the philippines. in any consolation, cefiro was offered there. lots of old skool rwd, lancer box type, l type, corolla mangos, te, celeste, etc.

I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE PHILIPPINES ON SATURDAY. everything is cheap. 15" and 16" rotas are cheap. you know those ones everyone has. but the rare ones are actually same price as here. go to the street in manila called banawi(spl). its filled with import and car stuff. theyll fix anything for you any time of day and anywhere in the area.

Hey, wait. You guys that are saying that you've been to the Philippines and back..may I ask if you used to live in the Philippines? Or are Filipinos?
@BOOSTLOVER, I'm going to Manila. I've been to Cebu like only once when I was 8. My family took a vacation there. Are you gonna have a stop-over at Manila? I'm going at around May too if money and school permits me.
PS: Where is Banawi.

01-20-2006, 11:46 AM
banawi is in manila. i dont live there. but my parents just moved back there 2 years ago so ive been going back and forth. if you don't know tagalog, take someone with you to banawi, so you can get a discount and they wont overcharge you too much.

The key to bargaining there is the ability to talk the language, or else they'll rape you with high prices (even though it's still really cheap to us) if they know you're not from around there.

Who's that? :boink:
Back on-topic, if they can tell you're not from around there, they'll just jack up the price since you have no idea how much it's really worth. Just have someone there, either friends or family, bargain for you. For us with US dollars, it doesn't really matter much though. To think about it, when they raise their price a few hundred pesos, thats about a couple dollars to us, but to them, thats a lot more. For the price of a new car here ($15k range), you can buy a brand new 5-bedroom house there, complete with 4 maids and the works.
When I went back in August, the exhange rate was 56 pesos to our one dollar. It's great when we have to multiply our money to get pesos, instead of having to divide it, like in Europe, where everything costs an arm and a leg.

Who's that? I dunno either, but she's from the Philippines. Hehe. Just saying that WOW, some filipino's are hot. Yeah they'll probably notice that you're not a local especially if you don't look like them. Most of the people that I've talked to said that the best time to go to the Philippines is during summer/spring and not winter.
So a $50 dollar meal here is around...2800 pesos. H*LY SH*T!
ALTRNTV
01-20-2006, 04:15 PM
You can buy a meal there from McDonald's for roughly $2.15; you can watch a new release movie at a top of the class theater for about $1.50, complete with drink and popcorn; and you can buy this mini barrel of beer for about $5.

A war? When I was there this last August, they were trying to overthrow the President. I don't know what's going on now.

Dood im going back in August cuz of my grandparents 50th anniv. I was born n raised there till i was 11 *stale fob* But yah best part bout goin back right now is that....62 pesos per $1!!! Last time i was back there was bout 3 yrs ago. Yah theres the civic out the ass but theres a couple of tuning shops that i hit up. I remember this shop in Sta Mesa that tunes nothing but MK4 Supras and FDs *least thats all i saw in their garage*
Also when i came home, all my cousins turned atleast 18 so were hitting up the clubs and bars every night. Between like the 6 of us, i was spending $50 which doesnt sound alot in the states but this is for 6 of us, enough mini barrells of San Miguel beer than i can count, a bottle of vodka and tequila, some pulutan among other things. yah $50 was like 2500 pesos.

I haven't been back since '96 so it's going to be good times, with a lot of bullshit relatives to deal with.
