Hey everyone what does OHC, DOHC and SOHC stand for? Ever since I joined this message board I have seen it in just about every message. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> Just courageous.

DOHC- Dual Over-Head Cam
SOHC- Single Over-Head Cam
OHC- Over-Head Cam (I would assume)

OHC stands for Overhead cam, versus a Overhead Valve engine, where the cam is in the block.
SOHC stands for single overhead cam, where one cam operates the valves (usually 2, sometimes 3) per each bank of cylinders.
DOHC stands for dual overhead cam, where 2 cams operates the valves (usually 4, sometimes 5) per each bank of cylinders.
if u need further clarification, please do not hesitate to ask <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
