I was under the impression that the superchargers were for the vg30 V6 engines in the Frontier and XTerra, the KAs still being N/A

Superchargers make good torque but not something that works that great for a 4banger. Remember Turbos are alot more efficient. I might be quoting this wrong but i believe Turbocharging are about 70% efficient compaired to Supercharging which is about 40%-45% efficient....according to Maximun Boost by Corkey Bell
Turbocharging has come a long way and is just as reliable as supercharging....it's usually human error that causes the problems.

actually, i've been thinkin about doing this. i'll be picking up a wrecked 89 in about a week, and for a $100 i can strip anything and everything i want from it.
if i go through with it, i'll be using a centrifugal supercharger. we all know the KA makes plenty of torque. it's top end that sucks. the centrifugal supercharger should make up for it.
oh yeah, you won't find any sites on supercharging the KA cause thre aren't any (besides Unstable, and that project's been on hold forever).
if you want tons of info on superchargers go to www.superchargersonline.com

no a supercharger will give you low end since they build max boost sooner, a turbo will give you top end.

people fail to remember that there are three different types of superchargers, and they don't all work the same.
roots and screw type superchargers have boost at idle while centrifugals build boost with rpms. some centrifugal superchargers won't even start to build boost until 2000rpms.

2000K...i still consider that low end

i was being conservative.
i've narrowed my supercharger choices down to paxton or vortech. both of these have very little or no boost at all below 3000rpms. maximum boost (peak hp) won't come until redline or close to it.
