Ok.. Got my OBX short shifter today. Got it installed, and boy does it make a world of difference. I highly recommend it.
For the hell of it, I wrote a quick install guide w/ pictures and everything. Let me know what you think..
Maybe I could edit the colors, and we could put it here somewhere on zilvia??

that was suppose to go under the spacer, and it did not
come with the 2nd Zip Tie to go around the bottom of the
Inner boot. I just left out both. Also the bolts that
connected the spacer to the Plate nuts had lock washer that
were suppose to go into the holes with the nuts, but the
washers didn't fit in the holes, so I left them out to0.
(thats where the Loc-tite comes in)

Mine did not come with the gasket either, mine however is not all that tight, i can wiggle the plate around. i'd say there is a 1-2 mm gap maybe... did u have this problem? other than that, u pretty much covered the installation perfectly, it was really easy. i'd say 20 minutes if have the tools and are fairly adept
i highly recommend this product as well, well worth the money. BTW is your shifter notchy? mine is but i didn't drive around all that much and it seemed as if it was loosening up a bit the more i drove.

Mine is a bit "notchy" but thats to be expected when you get a new bushing on the shifter.
I would say it's about 1/3 shorter than it was. It is think it is very noticable. Before my throws were just to long to get a really quick shift, but it's no problem now.

I didn't have the 2mm gap problem at all... did you use the washers?
Do you have any idea how much easier that install would be if you un-did the 4 screws holding the center peice in?
For anybody doing this, save yourself some trouble and remove that center peice. The power mirror wires are kinda hard to get out so just leave them in and set your center peice off to the side.
It may not save a whole lot of time but it will just make your install a lot easier...

I know that it shortens the throw, but how about the slop from the stock shifter? Does it get rid of that too? I am realy considering this, and would like to know... if anyone has been in an s2000, that is the shift feel that I want. Maybe grant could compare it to his b&m and you could your shifter???

I'm using the pilot, and yup a lot of slop is gone.
When mine bolted up, there was no gap in the plate; I would try to fix that.

new shifter def. make it feel tighter but the smoothness depends on the transmission too.. you need to yet a s2k transmission..

yeah.. that would have definately helped. I was just to stubborn to do it.
and it's 6-screws not 4. There are two on top near the shifter, two on each side near shifter (under screw caps) and 2 on the back of the console beside the seats.

i am going to go recheck everything today to see if i can get rid of that gap. BTW i didn't remove my whole center console either, i just popped off the cover. it would've been easier to get to the screws holding the main boot on if i had though. when i put mine in i had almost no slop in my shifter... that was the biggest thing i liked about it. the throws were just about 33% shorter like OBX claimed. overall i honeslty can't think of anything bad to say about this thing... great buy (especially for my $50 )
BTW i've driven an S2000 but it was over the summer so i can't really make a good comparison, i just remember the shifts being very short so i don't think this really compares to that. maybe someone whos driven one more recently can help more, sorry

Sykikchimp, that install guide is very good. I'll probably install my OBX SS after finals is over.
Hmm... I seem to be missing a bushing on the SS. In your final picture the OBX SS had a bushing on the bottom end, but mines don't. Is that gonna be a problem? If so, how can I fix it?

other than the throw being shorter... does the shift knob/shifter sit lower than it used to w/ the stock shifter as well?
