Was the smoke from your exhaust sweet smelling? If so, it could be coolant mixing you oil in your motor and you could have a blown headgasket.

I have a Koyo radiator installed on my KA. All was going well until today when i was idling for awhile and a little white smoke came from the exhaust. Then, it started smoking under the hood from the coolant reservoir. It was low on coolant so i filled it up. It started to drive very bad like putter along, and it was shaking when i was stopped. It felt like it was misfiring very bad. I took a look underneath and i couldn't find any leaks from the upper/lower radiator hose. I don't know if the thermostat is bad or what. Also, i know its not a bad radiator cap, cause i just got a nismo one. Any help would help. Thanks.

Cliff notes.
1) Installed radiator.
2) Failed to bleed cooling system.
3) Drove around anyway.
4) Thermostat failed to open due to air pocket, overheating the engine.
5) Head gasket blew from the pressure.

Moral of story, properly fill and bleed the cooling system next time.
