so is this to help prevent something from flying into the dash from the engine bay??? i've searched and searched but can't find anything...
it's kind of interesting right in the center of the firewall, one screw holding in the A/C hose...just can't figure out why it's there??? :eek3:
anyone??
is it over the transmission tunnel by any chance?

Its on the firewall because in crash testing sometimes the motor would come through the firewall. It acts like a strap to keep the motor in there.

No it doesn't. Do you honestly think that small little piece of metal will stop the entire engine?
As listed in the parts manual it's a damper of some sort, designed to reduce vibration/resonance along the firewall. Haven't figured where the resonance comes from it cancels out, and I've removed them with no ill effect so I'm guessing some cars are more prone than others to needing it.
