I take off my rubber intake pipe today to get to some rust in need to fix below the master cylinder... too my surprise i find a small pool of oil sitting in the inlet-elbow. I just put on a greddy catch can, so i have no idea where its coming from... i even added the steel wool, and a pipe inside to keep the crap from being sucked back into the intake. maybe just old turbo seals?

any ideas on this is coming from? i'll have pictures up in a few minutes
thanks

Bump - curious...

I also replaced my intake last night, only to notice "muddy" soot (thin oil) around intake piece and turbo inlet. I have the stock Catch.

A dirty/clogged air filter will cause that sort of problems, atleast thats is a cause for that.

How did you install your catch can? Did you remove the oil seperator from the back of the valve cover?

The catch can should go between the line that used to run directly to the intake.

Well for me (OEM catch), the line from the valve cover runs straight to the intake. Seperate line form T runs to the catch

wow, this is old haha
i think the reason for mine being so bad is either bad seals+cold weather and/or the way i have the return line setup

I chose your thread because you had good pics and valid question...so I'm getting that a stock SR will have this issue since the hose runs direct form cover to intake, like mine does?
