Do the points on your driving record ever go away with time? Or do you have to continuously go to traffic school to remove every violation, every 18 months?

I think it just goes away after 3 years in California.

3 years for points to clear. You can go to traffic school once every 18 months. I dont think you can go to traffic school to clear points. Once a point makes it onto your record, it stays for 3 years. Traffic school prevents you acquiring a point in a pending case.

sometimes lawyers can have old points removed. Also DUI/RECKLESS Driving/ over 100mph/ street racing will all stay for 7 years if im not mistaken, the points stay longer, and there are usually more than 1 point for the offenses.

DUI and reckless driving are two points. I checked on the DMV website. Fortunately I'm only suffering of the one pointers. I will probably be going to the DMV soon to get my driving record printed out for me to see if my old tickets are gone yet. They don't show up on the lasuperiorcourt.org website so hopefully they're cleared.

According to my INSURANCE agent, the DUI will be like any other traffic ticket and my insurance will go down ON June 15, 2006.

just remember that you can request for "traffic school two" if you get another infraction before your traffic school eligibility is up...it'll save you a point and a lot of money dealing with insurance for an additional three years...

I heard about traffic school two also but supposedly you need to go in person for that one and for longer time as opposed to regular traffic school which can be done online. When am I eligible for regular traffic school if I take traffic school two?

Want to know something tricky you can do to avoid getting points? Being shady and having your drives liscense and car registered in a different state than California. This might also help a lot of you with emissions but who really cares when you wont get points built up for minor infractions
