No clue what makes them "drift" coilovers but tein (http://www.tein.com/hedamp.html) says it themselves...

they basically just admitted that their coilovers are just as good as ones you can find in a junkyard... as that is what makes good "drift" coilovers.
the springrates look pretty normal to me. If anything, I thought the rear springrates would be a bit higher.

currently JIC Magic suspension has been used quite a bit for drift, however the Drift King has designed a Suspension Kit for the S13 & S14 specfically for drift and is distributed by GP Sports. Two sets of lower suspension brackets are included in the drift set up kit. One for normal camber, and second that replaces the bracket for pure negative camber like this photo here
http://www.autoimaging.com/target/180_f.jpg
We should be getting some of the kits with in a month via boat. Air freight is also an option <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
We will have more info posted on our site

Also, regarding the Tein HEs...
They are both ride height adjustable and also shock perch height adjustable. For those extremely cambered and lowered rides that they use for drift, I'd imagine being able to maintain shock travel (by way of actually lowering where the shock sits) even when lowered to that extent, would be a good thing. Thus the made for drift idea. I read it somewhere, maybe even on this board lol.

That car is to drift what the F&F eclipse it so racing. I vision that some people think is perfect and other call rice. Yes - Japan has ricey drifters too. You don't really think that expensive paint will ever see the side of a canyon, do you?
